What batteries are you using in your cameras, & what kind of life are you getting ? Probably be helpful to know what mode you are operating in as well.

Reason for the post. I have a bushnell that is a couple years old. Wanna say its the 6mp trophy cam. Hell, set of 4 batteries lasted almost a year. I have it set to only take one pic at a time. No video.

I added a bushenll HD Tropy cam this year. It takes 8mp pics, & I have it set to take a single pic, followed by a 10 sec video clip. It takes 8 AA batteries. Just came back from a check with no pics for the last week..... Long story short, the batteries didn't last 2 months.

Im assuming the video eats the batteries in short order.

How do y'all manage your set ups ? Just keep putting batteries in every 4-6 weeks or omit the vid..?

    thanks for the input.

I haven't used the video yet at all on my cameras. The only one I did use it on was my BuckeyeCam and that has a big 6 volt battery plus a solar charger. I have 5 Covert Red 40's out, all with 12 AA batteries in them. Some are on single, some double and some triple pics depending on the locations. The one's I put out back in March still read 90+% as of two weeks ago.

Nice Chuck. Im thinking its the video that ate the batteries that quick.

We change our batteries in our coverts once a year. We usually don't set them to videos though.

If you use lithiums, you should have no trouble getting close to a year from a set, whether it's video or stills. If you are not using lithiums, I suggest rechargeables. That's what I use in all my homebrews and it's alot cheaper than buying new batteries all the time.

    Blessings..........Pastorjim

Bushnell recommends lithium batteries and yes vidoes do drain the batteries down especially if most all night time. I use regular batteries in my Bushnells set for videos but I also use a external 6v sla 12ah battery.

I have 14 Moultrie M-880's but only have four out yet...set them out two weeks ago this coming tuesday. They use 8 AA batteries, Moultrie suggests using Lithium as well but I went cheap and bought a 144 pack of Duracel Pro AA's. I set mine on 8MP with a 10 second delay and no video. I pulled the cards yesterday and had over 1000 pics on one camera! The camera said battery life still at 90% so I thought the regular batts were doing pretty good...the other three are still reading like 98%-95%.

I expect the regular alkaline batts will be okayish until cold weather hits, I bet the cold air will make those puppies go flat fast. I'll switch to lithiums if that happens.
