Outstanding job, Matt! Full tear out is the only wat to do a bathroom, IMO ... and the faucet,..... um...... sucks about Crosby's broken jaw, huh?
Great work! You are becoming quite the carpenter. I wish we could use romex here instead of conduit...it would cut my remodel times in half.
Thanks, everyone. Glad to hear everyone's opinions. Christine, I laughed when I read what you thought the faucet looked like. It figures the one thing I picked out would get the most criticism:D In all seriousness, I love hearing both the good and the bad. In the end, if there is a smile on my wife's face, we're all happy! Tfox, it sure does!
Heck of a job! I like that you built your own millwork. I put myself through college working in a cabinet shop, I have a lot of respect for those who DIY at home. We had a big shop, and sometimes it still seemed crowded. The mint green looks great with the earth tones. What made you choose the PEX over just adding some valves to the existing copper? The only thing I might have done different, is to make that GFI a quad instead of a duplex. You can never have too many outlets in a bathroom.
Thanks. The quad outlet was something we realized was a mistake after the fact. I'm still kicking myself for that. However, I could just as easily add an existing construction box next to it and draw power for a second outlet. Don't tell my wife that though:DAs for the PEX, I just like working with it, and there were too many joints in the copper. The house is about 30 years old, and has already sprung one pinhole joint in the copper. I just didn't want to run the risk of having to tear out walls to get to a leaking joint a year from now.
Really nice job. I built custom kitchens and baths until the housing market crashed. I think it looks really well done. The custom cabinets are impressive.
