Hey guys! So, I was at Bass Pro Shop shooting and I noticed that the alignment reference marks on the cams of my 2013 PSE Drive were a bit off. I stopped shooting and went over to the service desk in the archery dept. and asked if they could check it out. The guy looked at it and said that it was simple string stretch, so he stuck it in the press, removed the bottom end of the string and gave it a good twist then stuck it back on and handed my bow back to me. At this point the alignment reference marks were back to normal. I decided it was time to go so I packed up my things and left. Today I went out to shoot, the first time since my bow was serviced, and the bottom cam wouldn't move. The top one moves just fine but the bottom one won't move more than about an 8th of an inch. Anyone have any ideas as to what could have caused this?
No, I haven't shot it. PSE lists them as an authorized dealer, and says service can be done by an authorized dealer to remain under warranty. I was not charged or given a receipt for this service though. Should Bass Pro Shop be avoided altogether when it comes to service?
Yes they should definitely be avoided! Don't get me wrong, I love shopping there for gear and apparel but they're not touching my bow. Go to a reputable proshop that carries PSE's pro line bows and they'll take care of you. Also, PSE's factory strings are of pretty poor quality IMO. I had a lot of problems with stretch and peep rotation. A good custom string eliminates all of that.
Any "pro shop" or big box retailer is only as good as the guy who helps You behind the counter. The Richfield Cabelas archery guys are great. Some pro shops guys are scary. You should have shot the bow before leaving. Either way it's an easy fix.
I will never hand my bow to a gander, bass pro, cabelas, etc service employee. Their version of being certified is taking an online quiz with pretty low score requirements to pass. Find a smaller shop and become a frequent customer.
he put your string on backwards. The only way to fit it now is with a bow press. He wrapped it the wrong way around the cam. So basically he wasn't paying enough attention when he took it off and put it back on the wrong way.
The "pros" at the Richfield Cabelas cut my arrows and glued the inserts for me. I was told to let them dry for 24 hours before using. 24 hours latter I went to pull them out of the box and they were all glued together from the excess glue he did not wipe off. Never again, should have glued the inserts myself. Go to a good archery shop or do it yourself.
I once had a big box hunting store put my cable guard on wrong....On that bow, the cables actually went on the outside of the guard, they put them on the inside. It was a strange and obvious error. I fixed it myself at home. Don't let your wife take your bow somewhere for adjustments unless she knows at least something about them.
Same thing happened to me when I got a new string. The guy had put the string back on in front of the string stop on the cam. I went to draw it back, it wouldn't draw. Went back in and after a little fuss he fixed it.
My Revenge has Drive Cams on it...he shouldn't have twisted it much. He messed something up. I do all my own work on mine. What did he twist exaclty? The Control cable or buss cable?
Well, I'll take it back and get him to fix it then I'll buy my own press and do all my work myself. I guess I should have asked on here if they could be trusted to work on my bow first. Thanks guys.
Good deal...The guys at bass pro aren't much on dual cam bows for sure. Most all they carry is single cam.
