Hey everyone, shot my first recurve today, I have no idea what poundage. I was just shooting to see if I would like it, some of me does, some of me doesnt. It is definitely not as sexy or as easy as the movies have made it out to be. The tendons in my draw arm are sore and the base of the bone in my thumb hurts from holding the bow. I was wondering if you guys could provide some tips on how to improve my aim as I broke 4 arrows today. I also had some questions Should the bowstring be slapping against my forearm once I release? or am I doing something wrong. When you pull back with the 2-3 fingers on the bowstring, do you put the string in the crease of your first knuckle, or on your fingerpads? Why does the base knuckle of my thumb hurt? its the thumb that holds the bow frame while my other hand draws back. Do I keep my elbow in line, or high when pulling back the bowstring? How do I aim? What are some other fundamentals? Ive heard of the manufacturers offering discounts up to 45% like Bear Archery, Matthews, Bowtech, yet when I call them up, it has been an older model, free pack of arrows, or limited to only certain bows. Is there something im missing? Im currently deployed so I would also have the APO address. Thanks everyone.
use 3 fingers put the string on the tips of yoru fingers get a arm guard for your bow arm it sounds like you are holding the bow to tight you want your string arm in line your bow arm bent slightly hope this help a little thank you for your service
