Baseball is the worst sport in existence, I'd rather watch womens hockey.

Baseball is not a violent/collision sport like football. I have no problem with this. In fact I think it's a good idea. If I wanted to watch hockey or football I would watch hockey or football. IMO there is no need for a freight train to try to decapitate the catcher at home plate. You either make it or you dont... just like any other base. I'd also like to see them cut back on runners going 5 feet out of their way sliding into second breaking up double plays and potentially tearing ACL's or breaking legs. No problem cleaning this up a little bit.

I actually agree. I hate to see really good players put out for the season for a collision that shouldn't be happening anyway. It's only allowed at the pro level now. I'm ok with the play at second as long as it's within the current rules which states they must be able to reach the bag. There may need to be some more enforcement at 2nd.

I'm ok with it as well. Like it or not, baseball is not a contact sport as a general rule. I'm with NY. You either make it at home or you don't. I am ok with tag avoidance (sliding outside/inside) and coming back in.

If the catcher prefers not to get run over than he shouldn't block the plate.

If he has the ball, he has the right to tag the runner in front of the plate. If he doesn't have the ball, he is obstructing. Pretty much the same at the other bags as well but contact is only allowed at home.

I dont mind this rule either. Didn't Posey get a broken leg because someone ran him over?

But Im curious as to how it will be written up. Is a baserunner supposed to just stop if the catcher is blocking the plate? Or will the catcher not be allowed to set up on the plate?

    I'm ok with it.

I am not a fan of replay however aside from home run reviews.

I understand the rule. I guess I just like it the way it is.

Yes, posey lost a season to it.

No contact is pretty simple. Slide, stop or turn around are your options.

I think they should go to whiffle balls because the other ones hurt.

How about ghost runners? We used to do that growing up when we didn't have enough players. Problem solved ha

How about taking away attempts to rob home runs too, just as many people have been injured running into the wall as trucking over the catcher. Griffey Jr comes to mind, how many times was he injured from goin into wall.

Our wiffleball games as kids were pretty dangerous. We taped the balls up as well as the bat barrels and those things would knock you off your feet when they hit you for an out. ;)

I don't need to see players getting trucked and out for a season or worse, career, on a play the runner should be out on anyway. I enjoy the game without that stuff.

Hard slides and such are fine but lowering a shoulder head high is unnecessary, even in football it gets you fined.

I am more than ok with this. I used to play catcher only day after day and it was brutal. If you have a close play at the plate like Buster Posey incident there is nothing you can do. I think it's a good rule change but I'm not a fan of instant replay in every scenario.
