Well I may not have done it the same way you guys would have done it but I am hitting the exact same spot at 20 yards and my score jumped from the 380"s to 408 so I am happy. Thanks for the help and the insight.
I wouldn't say that it is not important, Jeff. It's just not required. It is definitely a process that will enhance the functional performance of a bow, and, obviously result in better "penetration performance", but, still not required in order to kill a deer. Bareshaft tuning, to me, is about achieving proper spine, yes, a benefit of this is penetration because the arrow will fly more true, but, target archers that are bareshaft tuning, are not doing so with penetration, in mind. They're doing so to achieve optimal performance, and, predictability of their set-ups. It's all about limiting variables that will affect the performance of their bows. Penetration is a by product of a properly tuned hunting bow.
Yeah...no kidding, Bruce. I wanna know why they care??? Guy won Vegas a few years ago with a severely overspined arrow that was making a 3"+ left tear (high, I think). Why in the world would he need or even want to bare shaft tune?
Because I am not that good. My mistakes have been minimized considerably by having a true flying arrow. Now when I miss an anchor point or pull a shot it is an 8 instead of a 0.
