If you have not watched this series, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it. It depicts Easy Company as they go through World War II, and all the characters are based on real soldiers. Its only a 10 part series but it is possibly the best 10 episodes of anything I have ever watched. Link to Episodes: Band of Brothers Episode 1 - Currahee - YouTube
Dang Just, where you been hiding? That's been out for years but yes its a great mini series. I got to meet **** Winters when I was stationed at Campbell a few years ago Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk 2
Lol, I saw it for the first time about 2-3 years ago, but not the entire thing. I just went through and watched the whole series start to end this past week. I was blown away!
By far the best made war film ever. I remember staying up all night watching it and spit shining boots one time while I was stationed at Fort Campbell years ago. That film reinforced the immense pride I already had in serving as an infantryman in the 101st.
I think they should show this in high school history classes. Might be good for kids to see what people have gone through for this country.
Amazing series. Have watched it multiple times start to finish. Have the box set. I especially like the interviews at the end. I love when Maj Winters talks about his grandson asking him if he was a hero in the war. "No, but I served with a whole company of em" ...... one of those moments/quotes that makes the hair on yer neck stand up.
I just finished watching the sopranos on the HBO App.....late I know, but finished it nonetheless. I was looking at other options and BOB was on there. I think I will give it a shot
I really wish someone would make a film of this quality about the Vietnam and Korean Wars, veterans of those conflicts are often overlooked and there were plenty of heroes among them.
The Sopranos.... my all time favorite series. Have watched the entire series from episode one, to the screen going black at least 4 times. Was pretty bummed when it ended. Had hoped for a movie. Certainly sad when Gandolfini died.
Sopranos was awesome. I am currently rewatching it right now on the HBO go app as well. I watched it the first time through, but to be honest I had forgotten so much and reaize how well written and detailed it was. It's really interesting watching how much the world has changed so quickly. It started filming in 1998 and debuted in January 1999. So about 15 years ago. Payphones everywhere, big cell phones, no flat panel TV's etc. Definately different watching it at 40 vs 25. Not to mention James Gandolfini was only 38 or so. I had though he and edie falco were much older at the time. Really bothered me when he died. BoB is a close second. I think there is a book out about how Sopranos and HBO really changed modern television. From being comfortable with the production cost of BoB not to mention the writers who worked with David Chase who went on to create shows such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Rome, Deadwood and Boardwalk Empire. Even shows like Rescue Me, The Shield, The Wire, The Walking Dead are all products of the Sopranos showing TV execs that Americans were craving Serialized, well written and high value "mini-Movies. I can honestly say most of TV is crap percentage wise, but the few that are good are really good.
Couldn't agree more. Heck of a show. Even being my first time watching it, I could see myself watching it through again.....maybe there is something out there that nobody knows about that was recorded before Gandolfini's death?? That would be cool
"Air Assault" my final duty assignment was in the 101st. i had always wanted to be in it since my grandpa and great uncles served during WWII in the 101st. i grew up hearing those stories and was really cool to see them on the series, really gave them more meaning.
