also, sitting on an oak flat, honey suckle patch, ag field is NOT baiting...oaks and things of the like are natural occurances, they will happen whether you are in the woods hunting or not...ag fields are for profit for farmers, hunting over them and using are a by product...can you use use them to an advantage? of course...but you didn't supply the product....baiting to me is if you supply the product and expect to kill b/c of it...I have no issue with it.

well, guys it's not the issue of is it moral or not, the question is, is it virtually the same thing when it comes down to it...?

This also plays into my thread about killing fish versus killing animals. Hell, people use "live bait"/"chum"/"peanut butter"/"popcorn"/"dip spit" to bait for fish...and guess what they do to those fish when they catch them? They KILL them. We are out to KILL deer. What is the difference in baiting and killing fish as compared to baiting and killing deer?

If you view this subject as black and white than oak flats are baiting.. or a food plot or what have you.

Otherwise you're looking at the subject through your eyes only. And deciding what you deem as bait or not bait.

    Thus.. turning the looking glass.

LOL! I've learned my lesson comparing baiting bears and deer. Though there is no difference.....there is a huge difference.

Damn it! You're sucking me in!!!!:D

What is the difference in baiting to trap animals as compared to baiting to kill a deer?

    How you got....

    From.....

    I can't see it.

I have NOTHING against either practice....NOR do I view either as "morally superior" to the other.

    Nothing.

bait or baiting is ANYTHING used as a lure or enticement.

So.. if we're saying the world is so black and white. Then we all bait.

    Where's the line?

IMO.. its the line of a planted food source whether free ranging or man-made versus a pile of anything.

In other opinions its free ranging versus man-made or a pile of anything. Thus orchards.. food plots.. planted oak flats.. even front yards are taboo.

Oh I get it now........ your supposed to word it correctly, hunting over "food" as opposed to hunting over "bait", that way, I'm not looking at thru just my eyes but thru others as well, thanks!

No.. just trying to learn what others see.

How others view things like food plots and baiting. Or life in general.

I find this interesting. It appears its okay to pass judgment on the way many see fit only.

Like I said. I don't care what another does.. and I certainly don't pass judgment on them either.

    Jeff.. YOU said it.

I'm trying to understand why you did.

    You said.. 'somehow morally superior'.

This is like the 3rd time I quoted this. I guess it was just a poor choice of wording by you.

So thats cool. We'll just forget about it.. I do it on occasion too. My bad.

As long as one warns the deer about the bait pile, then all potential legal recourse by the DNR is removed.

Here's my quote, again, Duke. I'm trying to follow along with my "bad wording". But, I just can't. I said exactly what I meant to say.

IF you view food plots as "morally superior" to supplemental feeding/baiting......THEN (IMO) you're exhibiting an elitist attitude. If you don't (view one as morally superior)....then how can you view the other as "inferior"? I see them in the EXACT same light. Where the word "immoral" came in (your word), is beyond me.
