I understand what you are saying and see he is young that is why I didn't say anything particular about him just about how it is said. This happens every year and I have more of an issue with how others think like this, that it can only be there way.

To each their own, but baiting is far from a crop field or natural food source...

I don't think anyone who chooses to bait deer where it is legal should have to come up with excuses why they do it but to say that a bait pile is the same as a food plot or an acorn ridge is crazy. I have also saw where some have compared it to hunting a water hole. SMH

I can tell you that just cause you bait deer doesn't mean it is like going to the zoo where deer just flock around the bait and you can just pick and kill. It's not a guarantee over a bait spot just like hunting over a soybean field early season or standing corn late season is. I think there is a lot of misconceptions about baiting spots. Does it make thungs easier for people that hunt small acreage spots to have the opportunity to see deer? Of course, but does it make it easier to kill a big buck? Not really, the more mature deer learn to avoid the spot after being spooked and than they go nockturnal, learned it the hard way. I am now only putting in food plots and putting out a trophy rock right now, they seem to be way more calm and comfortable and I am able to stay out of the spot a lot longer than if I was baiting. Than in later season I will put out corn. To the people that can't understand why people bait, you have your reasons and I respect them, but in my eyes I look at the people with small land and need a reason for the deer to stop.

I use feed year round, have multiple mineral sites, and just planted my first bean plot. My family has used feed for years but we never sit over much more than a handful of "Bait" while hunting, just enough to have them stop and check it out.

We use the feed to hold the deer during the off season more than an attractant during season. This year I am sitting on a major highway that leads to all of our resources on our property because I know they will be traveling on it, maybe after my plot is developed in a few years ill hunt it.

I've argued this same point most of my life and I still don't hunt over feeders (bait). But...is there really much of a difference? Food plots offer feed that create a focal point for deer to concentrate on, around and to. Both crop and food plots (and bait) were man made/placed. The only difference I can see is that a feeder/pile is a more direct draw to a specific spot whereas hunting a plot or crop field, there's still a matter of getting within range. Of course with a gun...that's mostly a non-issue as well.

Baiting is not legal where I live, but it is a yes/no answer for me. It depends on where I am hunting. I hunt on private property in most cases and my "clients" as I call them, want the deer removed. Me baiting them in, would be counter productive to what the land owner wants, so I couldn't, even if it was legal. On my buddy/hunting partners farm, he enjoys seeing deer all the time and we only take out a select few each year, so I would on his land if it was legal.
