When you hunt do you hunt a food plot? Many hunts have great success with them and i was just trying to see how many really are successful with it. I've tried it before and it only seemed to bring in the doe. If you do have a plot, then what type of food are you putting on it or growing at it?

It's not so much what you plant more as it is where you plant. I plant brassicas in super secluded spots and have very good luck there.

Its common sense that a food plot would work... That being said, For the majority or last year, I didn't hunt my box stand with a 100x20 grass/bean food plot because I liked being up in a tree in the thick woods better.

that's a good tactic, not to pressure all of your food plots. I might try that just to keep the deer in my general area.

I hunt the corridors leading to my food plots, I've killed plenty of deer that way, and since I'm in the woods 30 to 40 yrds off the food plot the deer don't seam to be bothered the least bit, I still get plenty of trail cam pics.

I usually have more luck with does and young bucks while hunting food plots. I hunt scrapes and don't fool with food plots when hunting big bucks.

I love watching those bucks dogging some does. It's very agressive... I agree, however, that hunting the does can be good. Sometimes hunting scrapes can be good, too. I think it depends on your area, and your deer ratios. I just want to see some antlers in person, on a live animal, walking towards my shooting lanes!

You SHOULD be hunting does this time of year. Find does during the rut...i guarantee you'll get yourself on bucks too!
