Well a few of the guys left out this morning for the 27 hour straight thru drive to Colorado. They will be heading in sometime Friday. Due to my work schedule I am flying out Saturday and due to a late arrival going in Sunday afternoon. It amazes me how fast the year went by, but none the less no better inner reflections than watching the sun come up over the mountains waiting for that first bugle. This, along with the Aspens turning gold, is to me, the true start to fall. See you back here in a few weeks with a complete story and pics Rob
I drew into 16E again this year first season, but do to other obligations I only got to hunt 3 days over this past weekend. No luck, but here is a couple of pics of the Gila I took this weekend, one as the sun was setting and one at daybreak. I added a pic of some cows from a few years ago in Colorado...anything to make the rest of your week go even slower.... Good luck to you and I look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
Mike, good to hear your still at it. We have been unsuccessful in pulling a Gila tag. However our strategy will somewhat different next year as we need to enter more choices. I hopefully you get some time to get back out again. CowboyColby, we are hunting 65
We're leaving on the 15th for our 23-hour drive... Right behind ya buddy! Next year, God willing, I'll be heading out there with my new 3/4-ton diesel and 32-foot travel trailer with slideout... you'll have to meet up with me and share camp for a little bit!
Push all the elk to us I packed my hunting bag last night to make sure I have everything ready to go and my new cot should be in today along with my sleeping pad. I changed out the batteries in my range finder and flashlights so I think I am about ready to take off. I should arrive in camp around 11 a.m. Saturday the 15th that is if I can find camp.
Well good luck to you on your hunt. We are flying this year, but sure wish I was driving as our flight connections are horrible. What state and unit are you hunting ? orrible.
