so yesterday i wanted to shoot my bow before the woods, so i took my target arrow, pulled back and BANG, it sounded like a .22 went off, at first i was like great there is an arrow in my hand, but no, worse the arrow was still on the bow, but no knock, my string had whent threw my nock, making the bow dry fire, the string at the bottom cam cut right threw the cam, and the top limbs have been stressed so much from it the camo is all cracked, i called bear, and they are sending me a new bottom cam, and top limbs, but dont you think if the top limbs have been stressed then so have the bottom ones, and do you think if i go hunting and i see a deer and i shoot, then that one shot will be fine to take, or dont even pull the bow back, my pro shop said it would be fine for a deer shot. i just dont know what to do, i have only had this bow for 2 months
Limbs come in matched sets... or at least they should. If they're sending you a replacement limb, chances are you'll get a set. I can't believe that a cable cut through a cam! Wow! Replace the damaged parts and you should be good to go. Happy tuning!
i will post some pics of the damage, and when i get my new stuff on my bow, will i have to retune and resight, and all of that good stuff
I'm curious, what bear had to say about this? Once the bow is fixed, I would retune and sight in everything before heading back out to the woods. C
Like a dry fire The force of the compound bow is extreme. My nephew experienced a semi dry fire (not at full draw when release opened) on his switchback and completely collapsed his metal peep site. The cam damage and limb damage in this case is believable.
bear said on the phone that what happened is covered, they called my bow shop and said they were sending me out limbs and a bottom cam, and my bow shop is charging me 40 bucks to put it back together so i dont void my warranty
If you bought that bow there, they should put it together for FREE!!! A GOOD shop would. Sorry to hear about this misfortune. And YES, you will need to re-tune the bow. If the rest hasn't been changed, and everything goes back together as it was before, you may get away with just a small amount of tuning, but definitely you want to tune it to make sure it's shooting as it should. Also, make sure you're checking your arrows closely to ensure that all of your nocks are fitting snug, and that none of your arrows are cracked or otherwise damaged.
my dad had a bear brake on him at the sportin goods store up the road. It was a bear. He had pulled it all the way back and the (i dont know what its called) the sliding thing near the arrow rest snaped in half causing it to dry fire....
yep i bought it there and they are going to charge me to fix it lol its bull but better then buying all the new parts
