Give him the deer. And talking to. And maybe a swift kick. If he gives you any lip or hassle call Johnny law. Be sure to let him know he's doing it wrong. 10 people is pretty ridiculous.

    Exchange phone numbers.

Make sure you both agree to where your boundaries are. (Not just property boundaries)

Agree to how this will be handled in the future... who knows, you may have a deer cross onto his land some day.

Leave on friendly but very clear terms.

I have never regretted being nice... but I have regretted not being clear.

Nothing frustrates me more than trespassing.

I have no problem letting our neighbors retrieve their animal, and will even go help them if I can, but one thing I hate is a lack of communication. Either have an agreement beforehand about the situation, or seek out permission.

My question also. In ND you don't need permission to retrieve game from posted land. I always notify the landowner out of common courtesy but one guy has been a real DB in the past so with him I just go right in.

I'd drive around town with his buck hanging off the bed of my truck. you know, make it appear it's your buck, even though it's not. then after they get good and pissed give it back to them.. that way you're both pissed and then everyone is even.
