This summer I decided I needed a bow. I also knew it would be awhile before I had the money, but figured if I started saving I would be able to hunt the 2016 season. Saving was a little slow, but I got a few hundred stashed away.
A few days ago I happened across a 2015 Bear Tremor. Guy put a lowball bid on it on ebay thinking nothing would come of it. A few days later he won it and his wife found out. Oops.
Short story is I bought it for $300. I've not shot one, and intended to do so before committing, however he had another buyer for it that was taking it that day if I didn't. While there's not a ton of info about them online, everything I could find said it's an amazing shooting bow, and the biggest complaint anywhere was that at a 322 IBO, it's a little slower than some options. For a single cam it's ok though.
Anyway, I bought it, so far I don't regret it. It's still got the factory seal on it so worst case I think I should be able to sell it or trade it and get my money back out of it. I decided though that for a noob I was better off with a little slower smooth bow than a speed bow.
Now, I know it's highly not recommended to buy a bow the way I did. I guess my biggest concern is am I going to have a hard time finding a shop that will help me get it set up. It's a bare bow so I still have a few hundred to spend on sights, rest, release, arrows, and who knows what else.
I guess what I'm wondering is if I would be better off to sell it before opening it to get the most back out of it then give a shop all my money? Or keep it and just take it to a shop to get it set up?

I think you'll be just fine with that bow.
I bought a little Lights Out for $100 and luv'd it, has 2 bucks under it's belt in 2 seasons before I bought my Heli-M this year.

Im sure itll work just fine to get you some experience on. I assume that's a good deal (not sure the new price on one) so that's what matters most. Odds are you wont know what draw cycle or grip or whatever you like most just yet anyway. My first several bows I bought just what I could afford or what was given to me as a gift. After having experience with several bows I learned what I like and don't like. Get her set up and start enjoying it.

Thanks guys. From what i could find, if i went into a shop the same thing would cost about 200 more. One of the big reasons i bought it.
I have to get through Christmas then i'll start saving for accessories. I would prefer to spend a little extra on sight, rest and release so may take a few months depending on how much OT i can pick up.
I'm excited about it and think it will be good.
