Does a bad call scare off all the turkey in the Area? I made some poor calling decisions today (calling too much/bad calls) and I was wondering if it will impact my hunt tomorrow in the same area. I'm using a box call. We heard plenty, and saw a gobbler at about 100 yards out. Every time we heard one gobble, they told me to call back immediately even though I knew for a fact it was wrong. Some of my calls were way off and I was wondering how it will impact my day tomorrow. Any input is greatly appreciated.
should be okay. maybe use a different call tomorrow? call less. cut if you can with your box call. call back only if he gobbles to your call. if he isn't answering you specifically then you may annoy him by calling to him when he isn't interested in you. sometimes answering the hens is also effective to bring him in. EX: you know when you are somewhere and there is a person that just won't quit talking and they are getting on your nerves and annoying you and just want to get away from them? and sometimes you go somewhere and there is someone there that draws your interest and you like talking back to them in a conversation. well turkeys are the same!! don't be the annoying one if you know what I mean. don't talk unless you are being talked to!!! if he wants to talk it up then be social with him. if he gets excited to talk with you by all means get excited with him. I hope this helps and you understand where I'm going with all of this!! good luck!!
I would change calls for sure. Be subtle! I'm a strong believer in getting their attention then shutting them up and make them come wondering where you went and why you got quiet. Good Luck shoot straight tomorrow!
^^ that ^^ soft calls, purrs, I use box calls almost exclusively but keep a mouth call in my yap to make soft clucks when they get in close.
