I grew up in a great rural neighborhood and have hunted here my whole life. The wood lots here are typically 1 square mile, so generally the furthest from any given house that I hunt is about a half mile. Now at 38 years old I am still hunting the same wood lot that I've hunted for the last 25 year and some absolute monsters have been taken right from my back yard! Some things Ive found is that scent control is not an issue what so ever due to the fact that these deer smell everything from cig smoke to perfume, bacon and eggs to septic tanks! Another thing is that these monsters have no worry about wheelers, lawn mowers or tractors! BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THESE DEER CAN TELL WHEN THEY ARE BEING HUNTED!
Sometimes I can tell that these deer are so in tune with their little wood lot that they pick right up on some things that some deer in much bigger wood lots just walk right up to. It's almost like they are a totally different species. This is the last big boy I took from my back yard and it's also the nicest I've ever taken, but I have seen bigger right from my window! This deer weighed 210 dressed out!
