I have places I hunt 30 minutes away and I don't bring anymore than I need. But when I go to my other place 2 hours away I do bring my X bow just in case. There is no archery shops within miles there. Was hunting shotgun season once, went to aim at a deer and noticed my rear sight was gone. No idea what happened but ever since then the backup gear was always needed.
I've got the xbow if needed. Always keep spare release w me. Here we go with more Elite praise but they have a hunters guarantee where they will overnight you a ready to hunt bow. Obviously you might need to make adjustments but I thought that was a pretty cool thing they offer. If I'm gun hunting I always have extra gun.
I just got an elite bow and I read that also, it is pretty cool but as long as I have the X bow I won't sweat it about them getting a bow to me
Bud guys normally do what they wanna do least where I come from. Sometimes it takes ingenuity but Id not ask her. Give you an example far removed from bows but outdoor related just the same. I judge rabbit hounds for the Akc, so did my buddy. When you judge/compete you prob have more than enough dogs. Anyway I got this hound I called chili dawg, she was real nice n her sister was owned by a guy I knew. He decided to sell her as a pup. My buddy Joe wanted her n they struck a deal that included starting her. A month passes n Joes wife hears a message the dog is ready for pick up, nothing else. She kinda freaks so Joe explains old man Billy in the club is going for heart surgery, he lives alone n has no one to watch dogs so a few club guys decided to board one a short time til he gets out. She rolls her eyes n like any good animal lover can't see the dog being put in the pound n since it's short term it's ok. A week or so passes n Joe mysteriously gets some bad news, old man Billy died. Anyway he still had dog til she died. He got his way. Another way more honest is psychology cause lying to the wife is not cool. I had 12-14 dogs most times n needed another bird dog. I went n got two n brought them home. My girls were little n I went inside to show them. Man mama was pissed, her Irish skin was glowing red. I let her burn a bit than informed her they aren't both ours, one is for Rob. Now it's impossible to be madder than she was earlier n this info took the edge off. That dog is old but lying right next to me still. Where there's a will there's a way! Old man Billy gave you the bow to hold to hide from his wife is a good one? After a while she'll never notice it. Another saying is once they say you have too many guns, dogs, bows, turkey calls they stopped counting n you're on your own. Maybe you don't have enough?
I only have one hunting bow. If something happened to it I'd have to wait for it to get fixed. Guess my back up would be go fishing.
I've got a backup release, and I usually try to keep an extra set of strings laying around in case there is some sort of mishap like a nicked string or something like that. Never had it happen, but I am just a little extra cautious. Otherwise, my backup is an hour drive to a pro-shop and a credit card if I am really hurting for a replacement of something that broke.
I must be "almost no one" then. Owning no more than one hunting bow at any given time has worked just fine for me for the past 24 years.
I have my old Ross as a back up but bare except the rest that way it's easier to setup, extra release and I always bring many options in camo clothing and layers due to living in Michigan things can change Ina hurry
I don't have things that were bought to be considered "back up" items but I do have 2 bows fully set up and 2 releases. My Bear Venue is a great bow but it EATS cables at my short draw length. Love the bow but I got real sick of the cable issue. I just recently picked up another bow but I have no inclination to get rid of my Venue because I enjoy that bow just that much. I do have a spare set of strings/cables for it too, more or less just because it eats cables. I have 2 releases only because I bought one, a year later wanted to try something different. I kept the first one to be a "back up" more or less in case I misplace my preferred one in the woods or forget it. So during hunting season, the other release stays in my car "just in case."
I don't have anything on my bow that will break, only something that can be cut, the string . I can string up a spare in a minute or so. If I need some other item I can walk home in a few minutes. If I'm hunting away from home I make sure I bring what I may need. Old Boy Scout here...be prepared is basic for me.
My wife was getting something out of my gun safe and she said to me, "Aren't there more guns in here than the last time I looked?" I slowly got out of my chair and walked over to the safe and gave her the old line........ "Well I'll be dog gone. I think that you're right. They must be breeding there in the dark!" After giving me one of the dirtiest looks I've ever seen, she finally had to break down and laugh. She's never asked me again about my hunting addictions!
I have extra clothes, that's about it. I hunt locally and can get things repaired if needed. I eventually will collect other things and probably a bow at some point but right now I don't have the luxury of being able to afford everything I want for hunting. And I won't lie to my wife about getting most things. I may not tell her I got another hunting shirt or a new pack of broadheads everytime I go to the store but when $500 or $1000 dollars is charged to Wilderness Archery, she'll notice. The child support from the divorce would considerably be more than any bow or hunting products I would ever purchase.
I have the previous strings/ cables. Stretched some but if the other set gets cut or torn for some reason, I have a press, can put old on quick !
I have 2 bows, around 20 stands and 40 trail cameras on 4 different huntable farms. Were good Clarke.
I have two virtually identical Prime Rival bows.....one black and the other was sent out for Kolorfusion camo in Kryptek Typhon. Same cams, custom strings, DL, poundage, rests, sights......about the only difference is sling and brand of 8" stab. I shoot year around and shoot both bows so they are ready to go at a moments notice. I wait all year for October 1st and archery opener, so I will not endure missing time in the woods to work on my bow or reorder broken accessories or such, rather than be hunting. Both bows were purchased used and combined cost about the price of one new one, so I am no worried about the cost since bowhunting and archery are my primary hobby.
