Who all in here is going to be backpacking in for elk? If so, how far in are you hiking and what kind of setup do you have for your camp? Also, how long are you packing in for and how heavy is your pack?

We will be packing in 6-7 miles this year. The walk in isn't bad, the wall out is hell! Will be packing enough stuff for a week an a half. My pack is usually under 30lbs. This year we will just be taking a few tarps to sleep under plus they are light. Month an 12 days left!

Going in 3-6 miles depending on other people being around. My pack is 35 right now with no food in it. I do have some other items in their to hopefully make up for the food not being in there. Might end up being around 40. Sleeping arrangement will make a big difference on weight. 1-5 pounds depending on what tent you use or tarp?

We will set up a base camp and then we might pack up camp and move with the elk if needed. First time going, but have read about every scenario of elk backpacking lists for your pack. Lots of lists on the web if you google it. Good luck to everyone.

550 cord and 20 ft 1/2" tubular climbing webbing, it doesnt stretch but you can use it to hang or drag, rated for like 4000 pounds found at rei.com
Water filter-camp near water source, elk go to water as well!
ultra lightweight tarp or tent (cabelas has an awesome hunting ten system, about 140 bucks and 3 pounds)
some dehydrated food, aluminum cooking pot, spork
i bring my 3 piece military sleeping system (10-pounds) has two bags and bivy
small bottle scent elimination spray......(you will stink) i suggest (scent wafers as well, you can rub them all over after washing up)
empty gallon milk jug(keep water in for cooking and drinking!)
and finally... poop paper and my trusty tomahawk
    under 50 lbs

Here is a list of the stuff that I plan on taking as of today. It will be refined before going. Either adding or getting rid of some of the stuff. List is for everything I will wear or pack with me. I'll have some additional items in the truck. Anyone feel free to add any items or tell me I don't need something. Just put the list together today. Was planning on weighing everything, but I don't believe I'm going to get that detailed.
