For those of you that use climbing tree stands and have to haul them into the woods on your back, what type of day pack do you use? Last year was my first year with a climber and I had a hard time carrying everything into the woods with me. Just looking for some tips to make it easier.

    Thanks,
    Mike

I have an older Remington backpack with a fanny pack included on it. Holds all my gear and I video all my hunts. To use with a climber I just strap my backpack to the climber and them strap the climber to my back.

will be interested to see the responses, i tried strapping my backpack to my climber, but there was no good way to do it, and it was noisy. i would like to hear what fanny pack people really like.

well i used a fanny pack.i loosened the waiststrap slip it over the top of my climber.then slip it off, set the stand and put the pack on with my bow to a haul line.once im up the tree i haul it up and clip it on set the bow on the stand.i thought about using a back pack but could not carry the climber.also some fannys have multible pouches i ended up removing a couple and fixing them to my stand.

I hunt almost all on public land and carry my stand in and out on each hunt. I struggled with this for a few years as well. I finally came up with a great system. I found a medium sized fanny pack from LLBean of all places. I like this one because of some of the features, anyway I where it on my waist in front of me so it sits on my stomach. Very comfortable and doesn't get in the way of a climber or hang on with sticks. when I get to my tree I set up my stand, turn the pack around on my back and climb up. I might mention that I take only what I need for that hunt. Also, all of my hunting pants have thigh pockets so I can stick my safety harness rope with prussic hitch in my pocket and then my fanny is just for my gear. Light, fast & quiet, hope this helps.

I use a camelbak linchpin pack. has pretty good storage with external pouches and strap points as well as a 3 liter water supply.

I'm suprised you don't see climbing tree stands with a backpack built in. Once you approach the tree you'd remove from stand and put on your back and then when up on the stand you could strap it to the tree.
