In stand now. Was very careful on my approach today and nailed it. Was very careful in scent control too. Hoping that leads to some good luck! Picture for Fitz as promised Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Currently at 43 degrees with a slight wind out of the east. Deer approach from NNE. Will continue to monitor it as the night continues, on a mountain face so the thermals will move soon. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
One for bedded. Other fed behind a tree 5 minutes ago and has not reappeared. I assume she is bedded too Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Well, they just spooked. Not sure why. Can't hear, see, or smell me?? They almost paralleled me in their way out, so I'm pretty sure I wasn't the cause. Wonder what was... Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Slightly yes. Wind was moving across and up. In my face to their relative position. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Four does came from my north about 40 mins ago. Two fed off into some thick stuff. The two others are feeding around my left at about 100. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
Home now, deer did not move quite as I expected. Hoping to get another night in, similar to tonight's hunt. Hoping I can pinpoint their movement a little more and then move my stand accordingly.
You're seeing them! Just need to move your stand or maybe there is a spot on the ground you could post up at? Getting real close! Good luck.
I think I need to move my stand, once the deer get out of they powerline clearing they have 4-5 trails to choose from before getting to me. I thought I had them patterned but there are just too many variables. Either hoping to moving closer to an "epicenter" or possibly jumping to the other side of the clearing as I believe I know where a major entrance trail is. More research is needed. Officially started my deer journal today. Whole new obsession! Excited to see how everything relates, or doesn't, throughout the season.
Here is a quick drawing of the area I am hunting tomorrow night. Sorry for the close up, but don't want to reveal too much of the area. Red- Old Stand Site Green- New Site, will be moving here tomorrow Orange Line- Powerline Strip White Lines- Known deer trails The deer movement starts from the NE and travels to the SW along the trails. The does from last night piled into the powerline clearing and fed for over an hour at the connecting trail just in front of the new stand site. Should be a great spot to kill a doe and catch any cruising bucks.
That looks like a hard area to hunt but your stand location is probably where I'd be posting up to. Looks like the most "funnel" shaped location.
100% chance of snow all day. Could be a great evening hunt tonight! Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
In stand now. Bonehead tip #168. You can't unlock your treestand lock to move your stand if you forget the keys. Observation stand tonight. Sent from my ADR6350 using Tapatalk 2
