Thanks for the helpful advice man im going out to shoot now. Im gonna try something different I think im pushing and pulling also but with thr trigger im using its very easy to trip it so im gonna see what I can figure out.
Ok I use either a Scott Exxus or Hot Shot Vapor release. They are thumb releases but it you add tension and leave your thumb on the trigger it will pivot can cause the release to fire. I never move my thumb any more. I saw this on an Ike's Outdoors Youtube segment and honest shoot better now and its all a surprise release. I think it has made a difference but it does take some getting used to if you have used a index release for a while. Worth looking into in my humble opinion. Thats what its all about right? Getting better.
Your absolutely right I've never used a thumb release thought about it plenty but never owned one so im thinking about test driving one just to see what all the fuss is about. They may very well be the right release for me I want know until I try.
Back tension is when use the muscles in ur back to release and the only way to really execute is by having the proper draw length its basically you finding the target holding steady and being able to make a good shot at a more surprised release it takes some effort but it works. Punching is finding your target and when you think your dead center you trigger the release.
Is there a way of being consistent while punching? Because I basically punch but I hit where I aim within reason.
Im going wit some of the guys here man whatever feels comfortable to you the only thing about punching is being consitant I personally found no consistency while shooting like that my advice is to find a solid anchor point and practice drawing to that anchor point another thing you can also try is thr blind bale approach this will help with target panic because thats basically all punching is target panic. You want to be able to hold on a target as steady as possible then trip the trigger as stated by levi in the video. Like some have stated here also its alot like pulling a trigger on a rifle. What type of release do you use?
Simple answer, yes. 99% of guys CAN'T though. The reason a surprise release is so desirable is because it's more consistent shot to shot and day to day. Putting the pin in the middle and pulling the trigger sounds very simple and can be very accurate. The problem with it, is your brain gets in the way. Before you know it, you hit the trigger before you need to or hit the trigger as the pin passes by the spot. If you struggle with this, it will only be worse when shooting at a deer or under pressure. Without going into great detail, your brain can only consciously do one task at a time but can do multiple subconsciously. What does this mean for your shooting? Well you can only successfully focus on one thing at a time. Most of your successful and very good shooters are only focusing on aiming and the release (or shot execution) just happens. If your mind shifts mid shot from aiming, do your release, you're already in trouble. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks for clearing that up I'm subconsciously pulling the trigger. I am very consistent as long as I focus on aiming.
