So I've been looking into these. I haven't really heard any negatives and thought I might give it a try.
Does anyone have any experiences with these that would like to share and any brand / model they reccommend?

There are really two styles of back tension releases now days. There is your traditional hinge style back tension, and then the newer breed of resistance activated releases too.

If your new to back tension releases, I would likely recommend something with a safety. The T.R.U. Ball Sweet Spot II was the first back tension I learned how to shoot with and it's still a fantastic release. It is a hinge style release.

Once you get the hand of it, and feel confident, there are a variety of hinge style and resistance activated styles that are good. The Carter Evolution+ is a great resistance style release. I also really like the Carter Only, and the T.R.U. Ball HT series for traditional hinge style releases. Hope this helps!

If you haven't shot one before, one thing I'd suggest is to make a loop of string that is the appropriate length so that you can loop it around your front bow hand, and then have it came back to your release hand so your in the full draw position. You can then practice with the loop and release like this until your comfortable with your hand position, and build the muscle memory to execute the shot correctly. This is really be best way to do this, as I've seen people end up with bloody lips and broken teeth when their back tension release went off halfway through the draw cycle while still learning. ;)
