I unfortunately sold my PSE Dream Season Evo and Diamond Infinite Edge over the last two years as I had nowhere to shoot and they where becoming expensive paper weights. I have now moved onto a 50acre plot my folks own and have more than enough space to shoot, but unfortunately not hunt as it is in a proposed green belt. I'm actually pretty cool with the conservation idea. My interest peaked when an acquaintance told me about a trad long bow he wasn't using. We came to an agreement and made a trade for something I wasn't using. It is a 45# @29" longbow made by a South African Bowyer, Johannes Schabbort. It arrives this weekend. I unfortunately sold my butt Not a problem as I can get one in time. It's funny how the mind works as I have been thinking about bowhunting as I now live a 40min drive from 2500 acre game farm a friend owns. Lastnight a Hoyt Turbo Hawke crossed my path. Kitted out with all I need except arrows and a butt and once again I had something to trade with the owner. This will arrive in two weeks time as he lives 4 hours away. It's an old Bow, but the bushmen used primitive weapons to feed their families your centuries. Good to be back on the forum again! I will be making use of the search function as I need arrows and broadheads (fixed due to local laws). My last draw weight was 62# @ 27.5" Cheers
Welcome back! Are you going to be hunting with the hoyt or longbow? Seeing as we are a few months away from the season, (and there is a steep learning curve with a longbow) I'd suggest using the hoyt for this season! Unfortunately I'm not the guy to ask about arrow weights and all that jargon!
Thanks very much! We are a couple months into the season here in South Africa so this year is a miss. I live in KwaZulu-Natal up in the Drakensberg Mountains. I plan on hunting with the trad bow. The Hoyt will make a late season appearance if need be.
