Good stuff Rob, I can tell elk hunting is now in your blood. It's a awesome virus to have. I hope it never leaves your system...good on you!
I really enjoyed the story and pics. Man thats what its all about, great experiences. Thanks for sharing!
Mike, I really wish you and I could of hooked up before or after...I was looking forward to meeting you and having a pic to post up:D The shed was left at camp...the one 7 point shed we dropped to come back and get to never return I wondered how it would come out when I took that pic...alot better than I had thought Elk hunting has been in my blood for 12 years....it will never leave me, I just hope that I can spread it to others. That is what I told my wife.....going try and draw that tag, but have to wait till 2011...new rule in New Mexico, if you draw a High Quality or High Demand tag, you must wait a year till you can reapply again
great story and pics ROB, that was a given though. Rest up and go chase some whitetails here in less than 5 days Sounds like a great time, i'm jealous!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although well written and awesome pics to go with the story, I heard the emotion and excitement in Rob's voice when he called me when leaving NM. The passion he has for elk hunting is unreal. They don't call him elkhuntinut for nothing. Cool pics Rob
Excellent! Sounds like a great adventure.Beautiful country, giving it all you got, taking it all in.Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing your story and the photographs.
If only Whitetails would bugle, but I guess a good grunting whitetail in late October is close enough:D Someday I know you to will journey west in the "elkhuntinut" bus !! I came back with some rash on my hands, dried sun blistered ears, 2 showers in 10 days and an empty tag. With all that, I would leave right now to do it all over again...12 months is a long timmmmmmmmmeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
So true John!!! It's been 5 years since I last hunted elk In Montana, It's killing me every fall since not going. Excellent read and pics, thanks for sharing!!!
