Not sure where you are at in SE Wisconsin but I am curious which Walmart you found the blue & rust remover at. I have a house in Bristol, Wi so i doubt that you can be that far from me.

Checked the walmart down here in Ottawa IL but no luck on the rust remover. Hopefully I can find it up north somewhere.

Nice work, my daughter got a Mossberg 183-T from her grandfather and it needs to be refinished but she won't let me.

Picked up two bottles of it tonight at Cabelas and started working on my shotgun. It did a great job of removing the blue from the barrel but it is going to take alot of work to get all the rust off. Think that I will need something a bit more course then the 400 sand paper you used.

    No problem T.

My shotgun restoration begun. The blue and rust remover has worked pretty well but the rust pits are pretty deep. I don't think that I will be able to sand down that deep. Anyone know how to take the stock off of a Remington 870. I did some research and it doesn't sound like it is that difficult but I can't figure it out.

Because I don't think that I can get all the rust pit marks off I am now leaning towards using the camo shrink wrap for guns that they sell at Gander. Has anyone tried this?

Has anyone wrapped a shotgun with just regular camo tape? I have been sanding for days now and have my gun pretty smooth but some of the pit marks are so deep that I will never be able to get rid of them. I was thinking about blueing it again but you will still see all the marks. I went to a few stores today looking for the camo shrink wrap but none of them carry it. A few guys suggested that I just wrap it in the camo duct tape and that it will work fine. Just wanted to get a few other thoughts before I try that.
