A friend and I went hunting in Ohio this weekend it's our 3rd year hunting out there, we hunt public land and put a lot of time in scouting and hanging stands. Over the years I got to learn the land and the deer movement and it finally paid off. Saturday morning I decided to go down this steep draw and hunt an old logging road that runs the whole hillside, good sign there in the past. I haven't been down there since September and decided why not. Got in nice and early and had a deer walk behind me before shooting light from its posture and the way it was walking I'm guessing it was a buck, but who knows. At 8:00 I rattled followed by some grunts and just as I was hanging up my antlers I heard what I thought to be two squirrels chasing each other, to my surprise is was a nice buck trotting straight at me. He closed the distance to 15yds and started raking a tree I drew back and smashed em. The slick trick ate him up and I saw him crash, he only went 40yds. It was one of the fastest and most exciting hunts. I never had a buck respond to calling like that it was great. Good luck to everybody. Things are starting to heat up.
Thanks I gotta get a tape on him yet and turn into the scorecard. Not sure what he will go. None the less I'm pumped
