After not having much luck with my mineral site in this area(minimal deer traffic right now it seems) I moved this cam to the edge of a lightline and a bedding thicket. Got a few good shots. After pulling the card and seeing the pics I put some minerals in this area to hopefully get some more of these guys and maybe their daddy. Got a couple pics late season and after season of 2 good bucks in this area and I'm not convinced these guys are them. Don't mind the 2008, the camera is DLC Covert II and I have trouble keeping up with the remote to change the settings ;(

smart move movin the camera. instinct always tells me to put I over a mineral site....but if its nothings happening there, bedding areas are the next best choice! any ideas on why there not really using it? is it close enough to a water source?

It's near a water source I feel like the problem is just location. I only have permission on about 25 acres that skirts over 2000 acres of leased land. The leased land consists of huge corn and bean fields with several large woodlots. To the NNW of my location is corn and to the SSE is new beans. Right now I'd bet anything the deer are pretty much living in and around those new beans but their is a lot of woods between my spot and there. When the corn is ready the traffic between the two fields will pick up ten fold and then I'm in business. I can catch deer moving between the two food sources and the bucks will be moving between the two looking for love. The area sets up good for hunting but not so much for mineral sites some years it seems.
