We fell back to page two! Shameful, just shameful! Lol Any of you guys that have some broadhead experience with different kinds and styles, check out my thread in the tech talk section. Maybe you can answer my question as to what good the bleeder blades on my broadheads do.
on the way to work this morning i got a good view of 75 pigs. Got permission to go get some. Pre shooting gonna happen this weekend.
I thought that too but am seeing just the opposite after I took them off. That is what has me confused.
How's the hog hunting going ETABNT? I hope you are quite literally bring'in home the bacon. I had a doe pass under my stand yesterday evening. she got a pass because of the spotted fawn that was following her. We would have some points on the board if it wasnt for me being a big softy.
Went out that night and sunday morning looking for those pigs and they did not show. it did warm up from the morning I saw them. It has been 80 and humid at 5:30 am. not a good time to sit.
The buck you see is an 8 and he is the one that was missing and came back. we have antler restrictions of 13" inside. He is very close but I would let him walk til next year. and then we have my Red light district of Does. have about 12-15 on average that live in this area and travel about a 2-3 mile radius. always around. I have minerals and small patch food plots in the area. I know there are bigger bucks in the area. I think when these ladys go hot then they will move in. the bigger boys are keeping in the deeper woods by the lake.
Sorry for being missing! I have been home and due to being tied to the computer at work, I tend to hide from it when Im home. White leg (pretty much my only shooter) was very active while I was at work. Showed up about 7 of 16 days, on various cams. Ill take that any day. I also checked a cam today and found he has shed his velvet. Very excited for this buck, hope he gives me a chance. I have all the stands I currently plan set up now. Need to do a little more work, and maybe move one. But over all Im ready to hunt if they blow the whistle now. Saturday marked 4 weeks, so we are down to like 26 days now. Come on Oct! Good luck to those who are out!
22 days left until season here, getting mock scrapes started, stands are all hung, going to be doing the last preseason camera card pull next weekend
How is everyon's week been going? Anybody up to anything special? Yesterday I decided to drop the draw weight on my bow. Took two full cranks off the limb bolts which should put me in the 62-63 pound range. So far im liking the change. I still have plenty of speed and power and the bow is more comfortable to draw. I can draw 70 with no problem or strain but I figured what for. Most of the energy is spent burying the arrow in the ground anyway. After a pass through shot, of course. lol
Im actually thinking of doing the same today. I have not had the time I would like to practices and fighting target panic. I can draw my 80 lbs no problem and held for over a minute yesterday. But Im sure dropping to 70 will help a little. Going to want to check speeds though, make sure Im not losing to much by dropping. Wish these heavy arrows I don't want to lose to much speed.
Nothing to report on the Deer side or on the pig side. they seemed to have moved out of the area for now. I bet they will be back when it gets a bit cooler.. but if anyone would like to do a pig hunt I got your website link right here: http://www.hunterscreekranchtx.com/ Just mention my name Rodney from the archery shop. ( They will know ) you can book out up to a year in advance. Great people and you wont be disappointed.
The speed that I lost with a 10ish pound reduction was neglegable. Not noticible via vision or perception of time from bow to target at 60 yards. There was a little loss though because I had to make a few minor sight adjustments. I didnt change anything on my arrow setup.
Thanks for the link on the hog hunt. It's on my bucket list but I need someplace a little closer to Texas. Hell, by the time I actually get around to it, the hogs will have moved into Nebraska.
NA! I drive 15 hours one way 4 times a year from East TX to LaCrosse WI. Nebraska to East TX aint nothing.
Haha it is when you have a dairy and cant get away from the cows for more than a long weekend. I'm looking to drive no more than a few hours, hunt for a day or day and a half then get back home. Probably need to find someplace in Kansas.
Just got back from vacation out of the country. Season starts here in two weeks, so hoping to get the bow back out tomorrow and wash/ start airing out all the clothes. Its getting close!!
