Shooting Grim Reaper 1.75 cut for dear, and Slick Trick Magnums for pigs.

I was worried about penetration with the mech. but the Reapers have been good to me so far.

Penetration is why I chose to go with the Swhackers. The blades don't open until after its inside. Saving the energy and sharpness for making a good exit wound.

The weather forecast for the season opener next week is highs in the 90s. I will go out on Tuesday because it's opening day. After that I plan to back off until the weather cools a little.

He has not posted since the sign up thread. Before that it wasn't since sometime last year for the last contest. So not sure if well be hearing from him. Alternates start soon though right?

Sorry Fellas. I have been swamped at work. I run an Archery Bait n Tackle shop in East Texas. many Bows coming in for annual inspection and restringing.

I have 11 Acres of Private Property I just acquired last fall and I have been working on clearing out lanes.

I was on a lease the last 2 years I participated in this contest and only got to hunt 4 times out of the season. was not worth the money or the time I put in.

Got some Does on camera but no shooter bucks. so I should be able to get in on the Doe Points for sure.

Will be shooting a Fred Bear SQ32 60# 27" Deer Crossing SD 400's with 100Gr. Xecutioner BH

Yes sir were full! Time to start killing some deer!!!! I still have 5 weeks and 2 days :( and in that time frame I have 3 weeks of work (week still on this hitch, off for 2 weeks, and 2 work weeks), so time is going to drag for me. But, its coming. Next year I so need to book an early season hunt or 2, cant take this time of the year. So close but so far!

I wonder what the reasoning is behind different state's season opening dates.

If everyone opened within a couple days or weeks I wouldn't wonder but there are sometimes months difference.

Whatever the reasons, I'm thankful to live in an early season state.

I know deer rut at different times in other states, so figure maybe that factors into it (wanting to wait until fawns are old enough to be on their own etc). Also due to weather, length of seasons, how many deer they want harvested, things like that.

We bounce down here in TX. last 2 years it has been the last weekend of Sept til Nov.1st now seeing that the last week in Sept. ends on a wed. they pushed it to the 1st weekend in October but still ends Nov 1st. Kind of dumb not staying consistent. Used to live in WI and loved the October hunts but down here October is still pretty darn warm to be in a stand mid day. I bow hunt from Opening day til end of season. I own a rifle for 1 reason. Home security. I like being up close an personal with my kills. anyone can shoot 300 yards away to kill an animal. it takes patients and persistence to get one close enough you can smell it. Turkey hunt with a bow. and I have on my Bucket list Elk hunt with a bow CO. a few years out on that got to save the money.

The top item on my bucket list of hunts is a wild hog hunt. We don't have them here. Not yet anyway.

Other items include Pronghorn, and elk. Both can be found here in Nebraska.

The grand daddy would be to draw the one bighorn sheep tag that is offered by lottery.
