slow weekend with this cold front pushing. in.. Neighbors came in late and kicked a bunch of bedders around. got them off pattern.

sat my 2nd stand last night and left my number 1 stand alone. i have been hunitng that one pretty hard.

2nd stand resulted in 4 does seen but at 50 yards out. never came in close enough. story of the year so far. one came in right at dark Bow was on the hoist rope half way down when she ran thru. Taking Tuesday off. gonna hunt all day long.

Had 2 does come in to stand 1 at noon and just stand there watching me rake leaves. X bow or gun they would be in the freezer. but I dont own a X bow and its not gun season so I guess I will keep pressing on. Good luck fellas on this up coming days. I know the Rut will be kicking off in areas soon. We have to wait til about Turkey day. for it to go off down here.

Searched for two hours with help from my old man. We couldn't find blood or the arrow either one.

Damn, I hate feeding the coyotes but without something to follow I'm at a loss.

I'm not impressed with the DRT broadheads though.

I got my bow adjusted back to where I like it. I decide to try something different and by the time I get done tweaking and adjusting I end up right back where I started. 60 lbs, 340 spine arrow with 125 grain tip.

Someday I will learn to leave well enough alone.

I did take 2 pics. the bucks are jsut starting to chase them now so with a rainy weekend should wash all the scent out of the woods and I get to start over next week.

Next week has me psyched. The buck I shot (and lost) Sunday responded to a doe grunt call and walked straight in to me from about 60-70 yards out.

I want to try one more arrow set up experiment that I just found out about. Adding weight to my arrow by putting a piece of parachord in the shaft.

Gonna play with it for a couple days then decide what to take to the blind this weekend.

I still have a week until my next hunt. Being stuck at work for 2 weeks straight is sooooo painful at times like this! Next Thursday I should be in the woods for an afternoon sit. I cant wait!

The rope in the shaft experiment was a bust. The extra weight just messed up my FOC which negated any gain from the weight. Only difference was a slow heavy arrow that didn't penetrate the target any better than what I had before.

Guess I'll stick with my 444 gr/13%FOC setup until the next time I buy arrows.

I'd really like to get my total weight to around 500 grains and my FOC into the upper teens.

Way better then my FOC. Mine needs work for sure. Im relying on power for penetration this year.

Sunday funday. Sitting in the living room watching football and out of the corner of my eye I see 4 deer walking down my driveway.
( it was raining here for 3 days and everything is soaking wet including my stand. Not a fan of having a wet *** for hours while hunting.) I pulled the BIOS out and glassed them. 2 does and 2 bucks. a 6 and a 8 following the does. watched them for as long as I could. about 15 min later caught the boys Rackin about 100 yards in the field.

Im gonna go put up a mock scrape and do some rattlen' this week. things are starting to get Crazy here in East TX.

Yesterday morning I sat until about 9:00. At 8:30 a lone doe came out and crossed the alfalfa field. I was hoping to see a buck on her trail but nope. Nothing.

I did move my blind about 30 yards west, closer to the creek crossing that I've seen the older deer use so I'm out for a couple days while they adjust to the change.

I'm headed out this evening for what will probably be the last evening hunt for the season. Once the time changes I won't have any daylight left after work.

If things go well, I should be able to get to my blind about 45 minutes to an hour before sundown.

I would shoot that guy without hesitation. Even if there are maybe bigger ones around.

A deer in the freezer beats two in the bush.
