Nothing much for me to report. Good cold front coming tomorrow so might be my day. Will probably be my last hunt before I go back to work for 2 weeks. Raining now, might go this afternoon for a couple hours if it stops early enough.
Hey guys I shot a doe on the 3rd and a doe yesterday will get some pics up soon for some points. Was also forced to pass 2 deer on the same hunt that would have been my biggest bow kills to date. The bigger of the 2 stood broadside at 4 yards on perfect video as I sat there wanting to cry lol. both 4 year olds in the mid to high 120's. I live in a NY zone that had a new rule of doe only enacted for the 1st-15th this year.
if things go well. I will be sitting tonight. I will be sitting Sunday also. Best of luck you all of you this weekend.
Sat on Saturday after work. saw 3 about 50 yards out. Sat sunday morning had 2 fawns come thru. Sat sunday night had 15 about 65 yards away. never came close enough for any shots. starting to get frustrated. Neighbor has 10 acres and has about 8 guys hunting it. Think that is why there not coming close to me. Might have to move the stand.
Neighbors can be frustrating but I guess just part of it. The wife had someone come try to set a ground blind up right on the property line field edge last year while she was hunting in the tree 20 yards away, let's say they didn't care and I had a frustrated wife that night. Don't worry it'll happen yet, we are 3-4 weeks from the beginning of the good stuff yet!!
On my way to work this AM it was 55. about 7am i leave my house. counted 10 does. came around the corner to see 3 does 2 fawns and a really nice Legal Buck. a quick glance put him in as a 6-8 but I know he was legal because at 40 MPH I could tell it was a Buck and he was about 35-40 yards off the field edge. Boys are roaming. setting up new homes. GOD i love this game.
Here we go.....finally some real antlers show up! I'm pretty sure I had a couple of pics of this buck last year. He was pretty much a night walker only.
I finally think I'm set up pretty good. Got two blinds set up. One on the entrance trail of an alfalfa field (funnel exit) and the other on the edge of a soybean field that they pass through after leaving the bedding area across the road. Several trails in the area pass by the blind and all funnel across the creek toward the alfalfa and the other blind. I also found the rub on a sapling in the same area so I'm really getting encouraged.
Im back at work. Started my 2 weeks yesterday. When I get off it will be oct 29th (if I don't get screwed by another guy not coming in) and will have till Nov 9th to hunt. Should be a pretty good stretch. I will apologize for passing doe all last week. Im not huge on shooting doe and especially with a buck tag in my pocket. Hate the thought of scaring a buck off. I know many say it doesn't happen and are probably right, but I have killed so few good bucks, I don't like to take the risk. Hopefully the 29th Ill put a buck down and can chase some doe before they are bred lol.
shot a doe a few weeks ago, but totally forgot to take a photo, smh ...been passing does the last 2 weeks; probably 4-5 of them already...been laying back for the rut to kick in before I tag another doe...
I just put an arrow in a buck! I didn't get a pass through but where I hit, I should have. Back end of the lungs or liver judging by the location of my lighted nock. I'm gonna let him sit until morning.
Makes the blood trail tough, but sounds like you hit a deadly area. I wouldn't sweat it to much. Heck Im figuring you are taking pictures right now!
