Have you ever ordered a string set and install it only to find you axle to axle is off? Here is some info that might help you! Most manufacturers give an axle to axle (A2A) measurement. Lets say 32" A2A is your bow. Once your new string set is installed, according to most manufacturers your A2A can be above or below your 32" A2A by a 1/4 of an inch. Some other adjustments may be needed like brace height and poundage. But for the most part unless your particular your axle to axle doesn't need to be spot on. All though your brace height, timing and poundage should be set properly.
Most of the time the a-a is given for a standard configuration. Limbs bottomed out at a specific draw length. Vary from that and it will change. Hoyt has 3 cams available on their hunting bows for different draw length. The carbon element with a #1 cam has a 30 1/4" a-a but if it has the #3 cam it is 31 1/2". But in the catalogs, they only give the 31 1/4" for the #2 (I think) Before freaking out about the a-a, bottom the poundage out and check with the manufacturer for your specific specs. tfox, brought up about manufacturer specs. This would be the tune charts on their website. Hoyt for example has a chart for each bow and the cam that is installed. This will give you all the manufacturer's specifications for that bow. Example Hoyt Spyder 30: http://www.hoyt.com/assets/tune_charts/2013-Spyder-30--tune-charts.pdf Hutch
