This spring was the first food plot i planted. It is pretty small but it is located on a hillside in the middle of the woods, with very little sunlight. I planted BioLogic Hot Spot, Cabelas Seclusion Blend, and BioLogic AlfaClover. All i did was rake the ground and remove ferns. I ruffed up the ground a bit and just threw the seed down. I did not have a rain for about a week after planting and now it has only had 2 waterings since May. I am so surprised how drout resistant these plants are. The plot is blooming and about 8" tall. I have a camera infront of it right now and i have gotten many pictures of does and fawns eating during daylight hours. When i pull my card i will post pictures.

That sound great. I've failed miserably at my last 2 plots. Good luck this season.

well done, good to hear its responded with so little care in both planting and ongoing work and is already attracting attention, have you got a good spot for a stand?

Sounds good I am doing my first this year and have to wait till August bcause i missed the early growing season. Im working with the whitetail institute and aftrer sending them pics they have advised me to go with secret spot instead of the imperial clover due to the shade. These guys have been great helping me out with questions and all u need to do is send them a soil sample and they take it from there and tell you what will grow there and what wont. There is even stuff that will grow in drought conditions. If you guys have any questions about the plots you are doing give them a call. i am pretty impressed at the work and attention they are giving me to sell me a 25lb bag of seed!!!

Thanks guys! And @Camper1 i actually have a stand about 20 yards from it, and on the other side about 100 yards i have another stand close to the trail the deer use to get to the plot. I chose what stand to use depending on the wind direction. @bowsie15 thanks! i will use that information in the future
