Yesterday we checked cameras trying to figure out where my daughter would hunt for the Wisconsin youth turkey hunt opening morning. We weren't sure until we went last night and roosted some nice tom's at our favorite spot. This morning we got into the blind and it wasn't long we had a number of tom's gobbling like crazy from their roost right behind us. It sounded like most of the birds were still roosting and my buddy says big strutter coming. I looked over and could see he was already very close as he just came up over the hill. My daughter could not see him because of where she was sitting in the hay bail blind but her gun was already ready towards the decoys. Once he saw the decoys he quickly went right behind the jake and started pecking him very hard. Ally was lined up and when he raised his head and kept still for a moment she squeezed off and dropped him right there. That is four years in a row she has shot a turkey now and this one was 25 pounds, 10 1'4" beard and 1" spurs. That hug after she dropped him is as good as it gets!
FANTASTIC!! Big congratulations to your daughter (and to you)....that's the stuff memories are made of.
