My first day practicing elevated shots from my tree stand. 90 degree heat and tons of skeeters, but I was in paradise. LOC ON LEM model and 20ft sticks, and yes I used a safety harness. Shot at 38yds and 49yds(according to my rangefinder) and I was spot on. Shot standing and seated. It took me almost an hour to set up and shoot my first arrow, I hope to get faster with more practice. Last thing i have to say is I'm a serious weightlifter(benching over 400lbs) and MAN OH MAN, a full back pack sticks and stand is quite the haul into the woods. Now I see why companies are always trying to shave as much weight as they can off their hunting products Just a quick post from another hopeless archery addict, I can't wait for fall to come and be full draw on some juicy venison steaks.................
Nice! Keep doing that kind of stuff and soon you'll be throwin' that stand up in no time. I can't wait until I can get my annual Sore Stand Hanging Calves
You guys are making me crazy, my bows in the shop till Thursday. But that afternoon I will be throwing some arrows down range.
Shooting from the tree is fun until you have to get down and get the arrows lol. Do you gotta set up the treestand and sticks everytime you go hunting?
No the feeling. I thought it was just me and my sorry arse out of shape. I switch to to leverage sticks with two step per level because of that.
it's better then too much beer in the in season. Hangovers are not a hunters friend. If a hunter pukes and there are no deer around, does it still make a sound?
I uncovered the secret brag post this really is :D haha! Good work, I plan on practicing from our elevated deck and then from a tree in my parents yard (where our primary hunting land is and our equipment).
fitz, i have to disagree with you. I do much better throwing the arrows than I do shooting them!!!!!! can't hit any thing either way, so i might as well just throw em lol .
I can bench press a pair of dirty wool socks, but never without a spotter. lol Seriously, If ya train and shoot like ya hunt, it'll be much easier when it's time to fill yer tag. Plus, setting up your stand many times before the season will pay dividends when ya try to do it in low light or pre dawn conditions. I'm kind of a morning person anyway, so I do my first shoot of the day at the but* crack of dawn. If I'm gonna be hunting at that time, I'm gonna practice at that time. Acclimates eyes and gear contact by feel. Connecting release in low light is getting better.
Great job man. I shoot from a stand every chance I get. Yeah hauling a stand, sticks and gear into the woods is a BEAST! But know this, it will make you a better and more successful hunter. A lot of gun hunters are too lazy to do this. They climb into a tower stand and wait to shoot whatever walks out. You have to go where the Big Boys are! Do like I do, strap your loaded backpack on your back and get on the elliptical machine with it. People in the gym will look at you like you are crazy, but it makes a world of difference. Keep Up the Good Work!
good job we have a ladder stand in the backyard we shoot out of all the time but next week it is comeing down and going back into the woods
