I have been asking around trying to pick up a few more areas to hunt this year. One person I asked is a gentleman I went to school with whose family own a very large piece of land only about 10 miles from my house. After a few days, he got back to me with an answer from his family. YES....and even better, I have access to the entire farm for archery season because im going to be the only person hunting during archery. 410 acres all to myself for 2 months.
The amount of jealousy I have right now is threw the roof. My only question is why are you on here right now instead of out scouting.
im stuck at work right now but im running up there at noon really quick to set up a few cameras over the bean field to try to get an idea of whats coming and going. Im super excited about this place. Its half wooded and half corn and beans. Best part is its literally minutes from my house!
Awesome, congrats on the property! Have fun scouting it and make sure to do something nice for the folks letting you hunt it!
My wife is making up a basket with some jerkey, cheese, and bourbon whiskey for me to drop off with a thank you note. Im pumped to get up there scouting, especially considering im running out of time. I got 3 cameras hung overlooking the beans and corn today on my lunch break just to get an idea of what is there. Then saturday im taking a few stands and going scouting. Get hung in a few decent spots and leave it alone until the first hunt there. Ill check cards on saturday and not again until the first hunt.
Good job brother! Always love getting new places to hunt! “In a civilized and cultivated country, wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen.” -Theodore Roosevelt
Oh, you're not far from me! How awesome for you though. I am sure they will realize how thankful you are once they get a basket. A month (or two weeks in/two out to settle) is plenty of time to get it scouted and ready!
