Just curious if you combined all your deer kills what do you think your average shot distance would be? I'd take a guess and say around 15-18yards
My last 8 bowkills are what I can remember--25 yards, 12 yards, 7 yards, 30 yards (on the ground), 15 yards, 20 yards, 12 yards, 14 yards...so I guess it is around 17 yards for the last 4 years or so. That seems to be my average. As I get older the further 30 yards seems to me when I am up a tree. I had some deer at 30 yards the other day broadside and it just felt wrong. I like em 20 yards or less.
My closest was last year at 10 yards. The furthest was 32 yards a few years ago, never again will I even think of shooting that far when I know I can get closer. I would have to say around 18 yards to be an average. I'll be doing everything to get that number lower as well!
My average came to 17.8...I was guessing 18 yards...seems to be a pretty consistent average. And most of my stands are set up for shots around this yardage.
I've got 2 longer distance ones that skew the average (42 and 44 yards). With them pulled out I'd say about 12ish yards. The last 3 bucks were all at or under 10.
I had this figured out at one point & it was 13 yds, My last several deer were all under that, so it may have bumped down to 12.
