You did the right thing. If there's a doubt let them walk...

Headed to the family farm after lunch to chase the big 8 I saw last Thursday. I will have the place to myself, and my muzzle loader at ready.

I have a stand that has not been hunted that he passed by Thursday that I will be sitting with hopes he makes a mistake.

I gotta believe that this buck is pushing 150 as an 8 point. Super long 2's and 3's with heavy mass!

Yesterday afternoon's hunt was a bust for the big 8. I saw 3 bucks while in the tree and one of them almost got shot.
Had the hammer back 3 times on him and let it back down due to visions on the big 8 dancing in my head.

Can't kill the big ones if you fill your only buck tag with a 3 year old...

I shot a 8 point Friday Evening. He will only be worth 50 points because my first deer was a small muley.

Heck yeah Oldcarp! Congrats man, very nice deer!!

Little update here fellas...I actually got sick (relapsed from hunting) and didn't hunt since last Monday I believe before tonight. Saw does tonight but nothing else and no shot. Time seems fleeting but still 30+ days to hopefully get something done.

Sorry I haven't been on here much guys. No luck in Illinois haunted by trail cams again. Had a 145 ten breed a doe for three days right in front of my cam on public land while I was hunting a different area. Might be the last straw for sattelite cams. Got six cams out today and have till Jan 7 to get a buck.

Been a busy couple of weeks for me, Just figured I would share some pictures from the last few weeks
I was able to take my youngest sister out for Ohio's youth gun season and we managed to get her on a doe, rained hard all morning and we had about two inches of rain in the blind by 11:00 , I had my range finder in the backpack on the ground and It got water logged and does not work anymore :bigcry:

    regans2k17deer.jpg

And then I have been getting after some coyotes as well

Just another dog I forgot to share on the last post... We love chasing dogs and helping out the deer & turkey around our hunting properties

Most of our hunting is at night we do call during the daytime but only on dogs that we have located and know where they are at, get in tight and have success that way to

Well fellas All Day sit yielded doe sightings but zero bucks. Wasn't really planning on shooting a doe yet off this property, but I did see quite possibly one of the longest does I've ever laid eyes on in my life.

She was even a silvery/gray color more than any deer I've seen as well. If she'd have presented a shot I decided I'd shoot but she filtered on East towards the plots.

    Keep after them Tyni!
They should become more patternable with the rut winding down and them hitting food sources with some what of a consistent pattern!
    Good luck to all!
