Well fellas....good and bad and good and bad news...first the bad:

-Raining all day led me to slide out to my New22 property I purchased last March and check cams. Literally only 50 yards from truck I jumped a doe, a young 8 pointer and a 3rd deer (I don't suspect was a biggun) out of the clover/chicory plot. Unbelievable. Also jumped two young does out of the brassicas on the other side of the property. I am praying that 3rd deer wasn't Bertier.

-My Radix Gen500 camera has to be a lemon. Two long soaks and thing isn't functioning. Now it won't function at all. Next time out it is coming off the tree and sent back.

    GOOD NEWS:

-Movement...the jumping of deer sucks but man the deer are comfy on my 22 acres. With bedding options almost always within 10 or fewer bounds they've truly shown on cam they'll move, feed or stretch their legs during light with ease.

-Pictures...only Bertier is a target still....but MR. PIGGY's age makes me believe that late season I may sacrifice his smaller rack, but rejoice in his age and brute size. We shall see. The awesome 8 everyone is split on age (2.5 or 3.5) gets a pass from me...but Pops has green light.

Bertier below...will separately post some others since photobucket is being stupid:

Those are some nice bucks tyni! Glad the new 22 is looking promising.

I know there is nothing more frustrating than to go check your cams and they aren't working.

We have a system moving out today and supposed to be a decent drop in temps tomorrow. Not sure if it is worth using my overtime to get in the stand or not.

How much money would loss to have an evening hunt?

Well i decided to stay home and hunt this year. dropped a junk boat off at the landfill this morn and saw a doe and fawn on there feet must be getting some food before this big storm front takes hold. iam looking forward to try and find a mature buck on the big exspansive public ground up here. time to get the boots fired up and deploy my 9 camera fleet. I have had lots of good daylight activity on my buddies 22acre parcel but all small bucks and does right now.

I need to ask. When you guys get strong winds 20-30 mph you don't seem to hunt. I'm just Curious why?
Here out west we hunt in everything except in major rain. We also don't get the long deer seasons like you guys do.
    Anyway just curious.

For me personally I don't like t sit in treestand when the wind is over 20 mph. Safety reasons.. tree limbs falling and tree movement freaks me out. Deer in my area seem to hunker down in heavy winds also. If it's primetime I will hunt ground blinds on food plots sometimes if the winds are not going to be over 20.

On another note.. l plan on hunting the stand this evening that the wife saw the big buck Saturday morning. Should have the right wind for it.

Shot one of my coolest bucks in nearly 30+mph gust day. I'll still hunt and actually believe I can slip in closer due to the cover noise honestly. I won't do it always early season though.

Stars aligned for a quick afternoon sit....gonna be in same stand I hunted last time that saw that young 8 and near shot at the mature doe. Haven't decided if I'll shoot a doe because I have hearings tomorrow morning so if I'm gonna be up or tracking a deer at dark or later getting no sleep I think I want it to be a buck... LOL

    We shall see....

I got some good news today, my daughter will be home for the first day of rifle season from college and she would like to go hunting with me, all be it the orange army, I'll take it.

I Told her she made my day.

I will still go out even if I shot a buck in Archery season.

She had to return last year that morning of the first day of rifle season but this year she has to be back the next day, YEA

Soooo I screwed up tonight. Had the big boy at 10 yards and couldn't get off a shot. Good news is that he had no idea I was there. Awesome 10 point... Easily 160, but came in behind me and the only shot was 30 yards through a spider web of limbs,. Tomorrow is another day. This one hurts bad!!

Oh man, sometimes no shot is presented and you do nothing wrong. Thank you for not sending an arrow through limbs like many would.

I passed an old buck at the Swamp Property....has never had a rack really. His one side is literally a sweeping blade/beam with no points. Was awesome hunt, his body had me thinking had to be a shooter...

A little more about my hunt last night. It still burning a hole in my brain!

The buck came in from the river crossing behind me and I never knew he was there until he was 10 yards away. Had to sit and watch him walk around me through the brush. I got to feel the adrenaline rush for the first time this year. It's a welcome old friend and a big part of why I love bow hunting so much!

Couple views from last nights stand.
