I know it will happen but I've been able to stop every buck so far that was coming through a lane I wanted to take but was oblivious. Granted one time I had to nearly scream just to get him to snap out of it "What was that..." LOL! It cost me one year though in my younger days...highly alert massive 8 ducked my arrow....needed to aim for low heart and let it be high lung should he duck.

Good luck Ty! I wont be able to get back out til the 27th but its looking awesome for that day. Cold front moving in and moon rise is at 245 pm. Ill be hunting my plot that hasn't been hunted this year. There was a 183 that came thru there a couple years ago and the neighbor said his boy has been visiting his apple trees.

It was cold today 42 degrees, however nothing moved. Saw a Buck at a corn field on the drive into my spot, 1/4 mile and opposite side of the road

Well had 6 come and use the oak flat...and instead of exiting the finger out into the alfalfa bordering the brassica plot those boogers went behind me downwind, entered the alfalfa field right where I entered and just ate for the last 20 minutes of legal time after feeding on acorns for the 30 mins before that.

Some got as close as 40, behind me through brush couldn't even get cam on them....just didn't happen. Great hunt though. Work and schedule is gonna make it tough to get back out for a time, Friday maybe...we shall see. Haven't started hunting morning with no seeking and still just one shooter on cams I am not gonna rush into anything.

It was a frosty morning, 32 degrees and what did I do, I took my daughters car and got her oil change so she could go to work. She works at the farm down the road.( takes care of the calves, farmer said anytime she is home from college come down and work)

So dad took care of her vehicle and she took my TRK. I'll be out this afternoon thou. She goes back to college this afternoon, I am taking her to lunch before she leaves. Just her and I.

My wife hogged her all weekend.

They probably are-- especially the younger bucks.

IMO--- cold weather--- hard horns and the new moon have them up checking out the girls!

Next week you should see a lot of roaming by the bigger bucks... Scrapes should start appearing in all the doe congregation areas.

My magic dates have always been 10/25 thru 11/11.

Luckily i have a bunch of vacation coming up :)

    Whens your vacation for?

I've only been out once this year so I've got the itch. I was hoping it was getting ready to start heating up. Ill be able to go next Friday. Got highs in the low 50's and a perfect wind.

Concur...next week is usually when I start amping it up...but work is gonna push that one week later. Will still have about a week and a half before firearms season starts shifting mature buck behavior. Plenty of time to get it done hopefully.
