I went out for the first time this year Saturday with hopes of having a shot at one of my target bucks. It was in the low 80's and a 10 mph wind that was on the verge of being bad for me. I went to my buck forage oats plot and got set up and realized that if forgot the card for my video camera. The wind kept swirling on me so I just decided to get down. I got back to the house disappointed with the bad string of luck. My 4 year old had just woke up from a nap so I asked him if he would want to hop in the stand right by our house. He had never really had a chance to go hunting with me so this was the first time. I grabbed the card for the camera and a burlap camo netting for the stand. We got set up around 610. Had a doe about 75 yards away very soon after getting set up. One of my other sons was with a friend at the movies and they just got home. He started jumping on his pogo stick about 50 yards away from us. Lol They ended up spooking that doe but we soon saw two other does making their way towards us. The bigger of the two presented me a 17 yard, broadside shot at 650. It was a double lung and she only went 40 yards. It was one of my most memorable hunts! The picture in the stand is from the footage that I shot.
Too cool!! Congrats on not just a success but making memories!! Get the pics and video footage up in the scorecard and we be rolling lately boys!
