Welcome to the site! Maybe you could try to get into the bricklayer's union when you come here. They take care of their people and the benefits are wonderful! Good luck to you.

    Welcome Ben,

Things are a little slow in my neck of the woods, but I will ask my mason friends. We might come up with something for you. If not, come to the states and hunt with us anyway. There are plenty of good giving lads on this site...

    Welcome to the site.
Things are definitely slow right now in the bricklayer trade, but I am sure you could find something, especially once spring rolls around.

Welcome Ben. Canada might also be a good backup plan. Alberta has held up fairly well through the "depression" lately and hasn't really slowed down a tonne in terms of building and construction. There is also a bunch of whitetail deer out here and a trip to the states isn't too bad. Just might make things a little more expensive.

    LOL. He said "Tonne".

Sry. I have a habit of lauging at cannucks. My neighbor I grew up next to was from Canadia. I got it from him. I don't mean anything by it.

haha, I make fun of my american cousins all the time when they come out. I'm sure I deserve it. But I'm a horrible speller so half the time I wouldn't know the difference between candian or american spelling.

Ben, As far as construction goes, it is Slow in rural Mid-America. Even many metro areas that normally don't slow much are feeling a hard pinch.

Hopefully this failing economy will start a turn around, but I'm not holding my breath. We are doing odd jobs, roofs, & remodeling. I haven't turned down a job in sometime, but this is normally the slow season anyway. Hopefully spring & Summer will bring all kinds of work. It's not been that many years ago when we were booked at least 12 months out.

    Good Luck!

    Dan

Hate to paint a negative picture but my brother has been a union bricklayer his whole life (30yrs) and this is the worst he's seen it....vertually non- existent in our neck of the woods. He's been out of work most of the last year with nothing down the pike. We got big deer though! Good luck to you!!
