Now I am not about to boast. I still think Bama is better and will most likely win the Iron Bowl next Saturday. But wow! Who'da thunk it after last year's debacle. Now... what if... Auburn does pull it out? That would be special. War Eagle!
Mizzou is in the same spot. We under achieved last year and had a ton of injuries. Everyone wrote us off as a team that couldn't compete in the SEC. Now we are 10-1, and only a missed field goal away from possibly being undefeated. We are one step away from the SEC championship game, just have to deal with Johnny football. By the way, I'd love to see Auburn beat Alabama, tired of seeing them in the National Championship game. If Auburn can pull it off, and Mizzou can handle A&M, we could be playing for a chance at the National Championship.
Florida St and Ohio State are not going to lose.... so either way Auburn and Mizzou won't be playing for the NC. Bama is the only team left with a shot to make it in. I think they will handle Auburn pretty easily unless they turn the ball over like they did against Miss St. Bama has a great run defense which is basically all Auburn does, and Auburns D is spotty at best. I hope its a good game to watch, but I don't think it will be.
Mizzou with a shot at the NC game? this made me lol. even if mizzou wins the SEC champ they will not go to the NC. Alabama should win out and face Florida St. (depending on how they finish out). Iron bowl will be a good game this next weekend. RTR!!!!!
The 6th BCS rankings are out: Three SEC teams ranked in top 5 | Saturday Down South I guess I'm not the only one that can see a way for Mizzou to make it to the NC. I think it's a little comical that SEC fans will poo poo a 1 loss Missouri team making it to the NC. Their only loss was to a top 10 ranked SEC team, and it was in overtime. Pretty much every other win has been by double digits. Is Alabama the only SEC team that should be allowed to play in the NC with a loss? Just curious.
Who would they make it in over? Undefeated Ohio State or Florida State? Even if the top 3 lose, they all arguably have a better resume than Mizzou as one loss teams. But I agree, if somehow all 3 top teams lose and Mizzou wins out there is a chance.
Or at least a chance at the SEC Title. No one is jumping FSU. OSU is a more tenuous pick. I suspect there are going to be a lot of OSU fans rooting for Auburn next weekend.
Bama may stop Auburn's run game... But Auburn spotty at best? I would say spotty at times... really good at times... really bad at times. Bama's D has its share of holes as well. The big factors IMO are AJ throwing underneath coverage... and Auburn completing at least 50% and staying out of 3rd and long situations. That is where Bama is at their best. If Auburn can run... Bama is in for a rough ride... they may win... but they better bring their lunch.
Agreed Auburn has to run the ball really well. I also agree that Bama's D has some glaring holes at times, the problem is the holes are all in the backfield. They have always been extremely effective against the run, their corners get taken to school frequently though in the deep pass game. I look forward to the game either way!
They have to run the ball for the entire game... not just 2 1/2 quarters. Bama wins year after year because they are THE best conditioned team in America, not necessarily the best coached.
If Mizzou wins out and Ohio State loses a game (FSU is not going to lose) the Tigers will be in the NC....it's not the hard to figure out
I think Mizzou better worry about Texas A&M first. Florida St is pretty much a lock for the NC game. I don't even know how Mizzou would jump a one loss Bama team if they lose to #4 Auburn (if that happened). Looks like Bama against Florida St. to me. Even if Bama AND Ohio St lose somehow I still don't see how Mizzou gets to a NC game. And that's a stretch for that to even happen.
Ohio State has a weak schedule, in their two years of being undefeated they have yet to play a Top 15 team....
If Mizzou wins out by beating Bama.... Agreed. If Bama loses to #4 on the road this week and then Mizzou wins out, it would be a very interesting discussion as to which one gets in.
No I have respect, Mizzou is a great team.... Manziel is just the most impressive college player of my lifetime and he is coming off of an embarrassing loss. He and A&M will be out to make a statement.
I had to look that phrase up... (yes I am old) I don't think Johnny Big mouth has much quit in him... but I was glad to see LSU whack TA&M last week though.
