Damn.... I didn't use my college time wisely. SUNY Fredonia, New York music school never paid me a dime. And when I took a semester off to earn money to pay for the next... hell I got drafted and sent to Vietnam. I just didn't play the game well at all. LOL I guess it may have been a different game in 1965.
I do not believe the intent is to "cheat" with every major program. AU intent in this situation was to cheat. Miami intent was to cheat
Semantics. Their intent is to not get caught "bending" any rules. Some may be a little more blatant than others. Remember, big money is involved here. No program is immune to the pressure to attract the almighty dollar.
Maybe they have the recruiting class they do because they have a good football program. I would hope that if they were cheating they would be a little better.
They have to be cheating. Every year Clemson snags players out Florida that should be UF or SEC bound (i.e Sammy Watkins). I've never understood how you could convince any player from Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, etc. to go to Clemson and play in the ACC when you could go compete in the SEC. Maybe their kids just like high school ball too much to play in the SEC? Who knows.
Maybe they just like the school more. Maybe they like the coaches. Maybe its the opportunity to be a big fish in a small pond, any number of reasons, they dont have to be cheating to get them. I know UK was after my daughter hard to come to Ky and dance on the dance team. The program is nationally ranked and a good program. Problem was that she hated the campus and chose to dance for a smaller school that she liked the school more. sent from my samsung note 2
Her boyfriend turned down full rides at air force, navy, and murray state to play football at the same school. Eastern ky university. Great little d1 school. He did get a full ride there as well. It was because of the school and coach. That and he didn't want to commit to 5 years of service after football. sent from my samsung note 2
That may be true for some cases. But for it to happen year after year after year, and for Clemson to be so painfully mediocre in a poor conference, yet pick top tier talent out of talent rich states (esp. Florida); you can understand how it would raise eye brows.
