So where I hunt in Wisconsin, you cannot bait but I believe I can use spray attractants. I'd have to double check the rule book to confirm. But I was wondering, has anyone ever used the spray attractants that you can spray on leaves etc. I think there is others that look like a stick of deodorant as well. Do any of these work?

    From the 15' regulations

Scents which are used only to attract deer by its odor may be used for hunting deer statewide, but the scent may not be placed or deposited in a manner that makes it accessible for consumption by deer. Scents shall be removed daily at the end of hunting hours, except two ounces or less of scent do not need to be removed daily and may be placed, used or deposited in any manner for hunting deer.

HAHA, they make it so confusing and complicated. So basically If I went and got a bottle of spray attractant to spray on the leaves, I can only spray 2 oz.? I would also have to spray it high enough so they cant eat it? how stupid! Since I obviously will not be able to remove it.

I understand when it comes rut time I hang a wick out with doe piss on it. That is easily removable every night.

What kind of attractant are you talking about? That's the key here.

If it's something that is food-based and meant to be eaten you can't use it unless you're using it in a matter which the deer can't eat it. A good example would be something like Tink's Salad Dressing. You can't spray it on foliage where deer can eat it. However if you wanted to spray it in the air or up high on a tree where they can't get to it, you could.

You can use urine-scented lures however you want as the deer won't eat them. 2 ounces or less of lure can be left out in the woods as long as you want. Something like a scrape dripper or pouring some pee on the ground. However you can't leave a gallon bucket of it in the woods.

Luckily I don't have to worry because I can hunt over my 2 gallons of feed.

    From the FAQ

Are there any restrictions on scent material?
The following rules apply statewide: For more information on recommended uses of scents as they pertain to CWD, visit dnr.wi.gov and search“CWD.”
    • up to two ounces of liquid or solid scent may be placed or used in any manner(e.g., on the ground, scrapes, branches, etc.),
    • any scent material over two ounces must be inaccessible to deer and must be removed daily at the end of deer hunting hours,
    • honey and solid animal parts or animal by-products may not be used as scent.

I wouldn't worry about spray, it could never be determined how much you spray.

Thanks Justin, The salad dressing was one of them I was looking at. I still find the rule pretty stupid. Sure I can spray it up in the air and be considered legal but If it hits any leaves within reach of the deer then its not. Pretty vague and dumb to me.
How about I spray it on the leaves but say its only out for the deer to smell and not eat. Maybe they wont like it?

Would I be wasting my money by trying any of these products? Anyone ever use them and have success? I suppose I could put it on a wick and hang it up
