Brace height, axle to axle length, cam rotation and limb deflection are all effected and taken out of factory spec... Backing the limbs down also results in the harness not being as taut and causes extra string oscillation from the extra "slack" in the system.

I am not saying you cannot get more speed out of a bow by advancing cam rotation (at any weight)... But, you better know what you are doing or you will end up with an out of tune bow that most likely won't be able to group broadheads.

Pissing around with factory specs is not worth the possibility of gaining 3-5 fps to me. I leave well enough alone.

As far as I understand, a bow is in "spec" when it is at its max DW. I think.

Yes and no spec is 60-70... Although maxed out a bow is in it's optimum position. The 55# Finch was asking about is not however.

    Scott,

What kind of speed do you think I could get out of a 60/70 Sentinel set at about 60#? Lets say I'm using a 6 gpp arrow weight. Any idea?

    Based off of my Sentinel....

300 fps with a 360 grain arrow and the hush kit still installed on the string. Drop the hush kit for 3-5 additional fps.

Depends what arrows you use, you said to figure for 6gpp (grains per pound). Gpp is always figured by total arrow weight.

Did you mean GPI (grains per inch)?

I actually think I was getting the two confused. I just went out and weighed my current arrow setup and it weighed 366 grains. So, I'd be safe using those with the bow adjusted at 60# but probably not much higher, correct? I assume there is some lee-way? Is 6 GPP the minimum?

If/when I do get this new Sentinel; I was going to probably get a new type of arrow. I've been using the 55/75 GT XT Hunters for a few years now. I'm thinking I'm wanting a heavier arrow for more KE.

Figuring 6 gpi total arrow weight based on a 28 inch shaft, 100 grain tip, blazer vanes, your insert and nock would put you roughly 325 grains... Adding approx. 11 fps to my last figure.

5 GPP. You could use those arrows (spine permiting) up to 73#.

Ok, I'm assuming my arrows are either a 200 or 300 spine. How can I tell for sure? I can not find that info on their website.
