These three passed the Rules Comitee on the 26th. Could be voted on today!!!! HB 1294 -would ban most semi-automatic handguns, rifles and shotguns. If this bill becomes law, it will also ban individual firearm parts as well as .50 caliber rifles and ammunition. HB 1599 - would re-classify a litany of semi-automatic handguns, rifles and shotguns as “assault weapons.” Furthermore, it would re-classify as “high capacity ammunition” any round chambered in .50 caliber or more. HB 1855 - would create penalties for victims of crime when they fail to report a stolen firearm in an arbitrarily determined time-frame. This means that anyone reporting a missing firearm will be investigated in order to determine whether they reported it in time. In other words, the victim becomes the suspect.
These bills were introduced last year and enough people called their reps that the bills were 'tabled'. Now they're back. There is no hype there either, these bills are that bad. Being IL.... there are bills like this every year. The Chicago anti-2nd amendment machine won't ever stop. It's like the terminator.... only it's out to kill the constitution. If anybody wants to keep up to date on legislation affecting gun ownership in IL, they should sign up for email alerts with the ISRA. http://isra.org/ .....and of course, please call your rep and ask them to oppose these bills.
I'll let you keep your AR at my house so they can't find it. Just let me know and I'll come pick it up!
It's funny, Illinois is such a huge anti gun state, and manufacturers such as Rock River Arms, Springfield, etc stay in the state and continue to thrive.
