Post your finds here in this thread, as stated in the title, this is for your pictures of your sheds before you pick them up. Show off your eagle eyes, or your mad skillz on your shed hunting prowness. This one was the first find of the season, I was standing almost on top of it before noticing it. This one was found on a trail, these are the 'easy' ones to find..... This one was a bit harder, saw it about 15 yards away, noticed a bit of brown in the snow, this is why I carry binoculars, I have checked out dozens of 'false alerts' over the season that ended up being nothing, but once in awhile they turn out to be what you are looking for. This one I am kinda proud of, I saw it about 30 yards out, the picture is with the camera zoomed in as far as it could go. The final one of this group is of one laying on top of the snow but with alot of debris around it, not that hard to find, relatively speaking
The sheds are starting to show up. The first one I walked right by it, (see the trail to the left? that is how close I passed to it) Better to be lucky than good looking.....or something like that..... This one was a bit easier to find than the first one, but still had to get right on it to see it.... Different view, if I would have been on the trail it would have been ALOT easier to see...
Here is my only find so far this year.... Before all the snow set in. We have a foot of sloppy frozen snow here
I did find a skeleton of a BB. But that was durring the fall. I was skirting the outer edge of the pines, near the Hwy. I took the skull. "I'm sorry, I'm SORRY!... I'M NOT SORRY!!!"
Doesn't happen that often in the snow, but I actually saw this one far enough away that I couldn't get it to show up on the camera zoomed in, so I walked a little closer for the first photo. A closer look at the shed....
My dad found this one, about 100-150 yards from where I found the other half the day before (I am pretty sure they are a match)
First of the year! Finally. Spotted it from about 15 yards away.. knew it was an antler right away. Feels good.
Here's what I caught on camera so far.... SHEDS #1 (fresh) #2 (year old) #3 (fresh) #4 (fresh) #5 (fresh) #6 (fresh) Match to 5-found about 20 feet away #7 (2 yrs old) Yotes had carried it, left it on top of the snow. SKULLS #1 8pt (Didn't get ATL) #2 5pt #3 10pt #4 8pt NO ATL-camera died... MISC Dead raptor
Mike, The bird was dead, within hours. Eyes were still clear and he wasn't stiff yet. At first though, I thought he was still alive! Also, here's another ATL from today. 62 4/8" 4point.
The little ones are starting to show up, almost 50 degrees out today (and dont think it got below 35 during the night, snow is pulling back a bit and hopefully exposing some of the smaller sheds) Angle I saw this one at was a lot tougher find than it needed to be, it was laying on top of the snow entirely uncovered. Always watch your feet (note the boot? that is where I was standing when I saw this monster) The last one was a melt shed, it got exposed with the melting snow, my dad found the other half a couple weeks ago, less than 200 yards away.
With nothing to do this morning I decided to Strap on the M-4 and go coyote hunting and Shed hunting in the same trip I hiked in about 1 1/2 mile to my first set of calling. NOTHING!! Boo Started off acrossed the field and WAM, My first shed atler of the season. I was Jacked. I looked off about twenty yard west and WAM WAM a pair Here is the rest of the Cycle. in reverse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujkee33e-oE&feature=channel_page and here he is in Velvet in late July This is the first time I have had Velvet pictures (or felt to some people)/hard bone on Video and found a complete set of antlers The palmation of this deers Anters will be cool to see next year. I walked about 5 miles total 3 walking upright and about 2 miles bent over. I have a feeling I will feel most of the pain tomorrow!!
