wow, never owned one but they had a good reputation ....
got this off another site ...

"This post is coming to you with a really heavy heart from all of us at Athens Outdoors. As you may have heard, Athens Archery has been sued for an alleged infringement, despite not being provided with specific claims to infringement. We believe our innovative cam carrier system is not infringing. We simply do not have the financial resources to fight a fair fight, so we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. We have turned over every stone to find other options to avoid this to include an investor or an outright sale. No further shipments will be occurring, much to our regret.

We can also say that this does not impact Mountain View Products and exciting news will be forthcoming about that soon.

It has been a privilege each and every day to do what we do, making one of the best bows on the market today. We have enjoyed all of the aspects of the business and the friendships made during this journey.

We do also politely ask for personal privacy during this time, as this has been incredibly difficult on us as well as our employees. We are all mourning the loss of businesses we have all worked hard to build." (AT) .....

    Sincerely,
    Jim and Tracie Klossner

Has to be more to this than meets the eye. Lawsuits are part of archery,it's non stop. I think inspite of their offerings being excellent sales weren't happening enough to make this worth it. They did have a great reputation and heir 33 inch bow was a rocker.

Out of all manufacturing paths to go down, I think the archery market would be the last thing I would ever want to compete in. I think every product has lawsuits against it because pretty much everything is the same anymore.

Exactly. Would be the equivalent of deciding to open a local gym or restaurant. Probably have better odds at success going to the boat and throwing all your money down on double zero at the roulette table.

It sure is a cut throat industry. No one truly is doing anything ground breaking anymore. They all change a little of this or add a little of that and market the snot out of it like its earth shattering, must have or you can't kill deer. Any of the top manufacturers make a great bow more than capable of doing the job. Its all just what you like or know at this point.

That being said, the blatent ripping off of Bowtechs idea/design can't be ignored. This wasn't a case like the Mathews vs bowtech thing a couple years ago where the area or contention was how a cable was routed on a cam. I'm a Bowtech guy, but seeing Athens go down stinks. They were a great bow, very high quality build. But, their choices sunk their ship, not the product.
