It did not tune very easy. It is super loud and the custom color is really crappy. It was the best of the 4 bows we got but still a POS.

I'm wondering why customer service hasn't been helpful to you. All the times that I've called them, they've been nothing short of awesome.

Toms Recluse sounds like a damn door slamming in the wind when you drop the string. Loudest bow I have ever heard I'm pretty sure.

After all of the time and problems we had with all 4 bows we decided that we could not take a chance with them in the field. We felt it wasn't a matter of if we would have a problem it was when. We called and sent emails and said we wanted to return them because we felt they did not live up to their part of the agreement. They said they were our bows and they would not take them back. 2 of our staff members were talked into buying them by one of my partners. I felt bad about it and bought those 2 bows from them so they wouldn't be out the money. I shouldn't have had to do their customer service through my company but I did so still to this day I believe Athens archery has THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

They arent going to do anything to make it right. It has been a couple of years. They told us they were ours and I am stuck with them. I am out thousands of dollars and they dont care.

I would highly recommend anyone to buy anything but a athens bow!

Well I ordered an Athens bow, and I've spoken to several of their staff who've gone above and beyond to give me impeccable customer service experience, so I can't share in your sentiment. I hope that you'll call and let them make it right if they can. If not, I'll gladly buy the bow from you if it's in good shape.

Friend of mine bought an athens bow brand new a few years back. Im sorry but I have no idea what model BUT he had nothing but issues with it. Within the first month of ownership the top limb cracked. Athens replaced it no questions asked. Within another month or 2 the bottom limb cracked. Again athens replaced the limb. About 3 months down the rd he drew the bow and heard a strange noise and let the string down. After checking the bow out, the riser had a crack over half way through it right above the grip. Called athens and they stated it must have been his fault. This bow was babied. Spent its life in a case when not being shot. Heck, it was always hung on a hook and never layed down. THE BOW WAS SIMPLY A PIECE OF JUNK

Athens archery is a rip off. Plain and simple

Of course they went above and beyond for you..... There trying to get you to buy there bow, not fix an issue. Any company will go above and beyond to get your money. It's what happens AFTER the sell that matters.

I guess we'll see what kind of company they are to me in the near future. :)

You can't make everybody happy. I know that much. I've owned several different bows from several companies and could probably find threads where people talked down about any company.

For every negative post I've read on here, I've read several more positive elsewhere. When I get my Athens, I'll be sure to post my comments.

This alone sends up a red flag to me, let alone what several posts have said. I've owned my Hoyt for 8 years and NEVER had to call anyone about anything. I'm a big believer in "you get what you pay for".

I wasn't calling them because I had problems. I called them because there are no dealers where I am and was interested in their product because I like that they're openly religious. No red flags. They were just very helpful with pointing me in the right direction to try out their product.

    Lol

I sense a lot of hostility towards either me or this company, possibly both...not sure why lol

I currently own a 2014 Hoyt and 2007 Bowtech. I've owned other companies, so I'm not sure why this thread grew in tension.

OK, but you didn't mention why you were calling them. Most of time when I hear of somebody contacting a manufacturer it's because of a problem. No hostility here, but I still wouldn't consider one of these bows based on what I've read.

I never said anything bad towards you in fact I hope you have good luck with your bow. You asked a question and I answered it.

nah, it's all good. this is the internet after all.

i do appreciate people's opinions. it's just one of those things where it seemed very emotionally invested for some folks.

that's not necessarily always a bad thing. at the very least it keeps things interesting. =)

right now my 2007 Bowtech Commander got sent back to Bowtech for a week limb. That's probably my favorite bow of all time. Last year, I bought a 2014 Carbon Spyder Turbo. It definitely has more "oomph" compared to my Commander.

This year, I was notified of my selection to promote to the rank of major, and after a lot of perusing, I saw that Athens Archery wore their faith on their sleeves, which is something I value to the utmost. Some folks don't like the way the risers look, but I like the Cross on it. Since there weren't any dealers within 300+ miles of me, I thought I'd give them a call to see what I could do to shoot one of their bows.

One of their shooters is coming to the state blue face shoot and offered to let me try out one of their bows. I think that's pretty awesome.

We'll see how it shoots. Since the Commander is a binary, I hope that this bow will be similar to tune. I do like Hoyt's yoke and the new Bowtech's overdrive binary system.

dah well, like i said, when i have bow in hand, i'll try and give as in depth of a review as i can.
